Looks like 8GB's back on the menu, boys!

The new cards due, when can we expect an announcement? I ask because I'm due to purchase a PC next month. The new cards due soon should be better than the 980? Then the later 8GB 980 cards will out perform the soon to be released? or will they just replace the current 980's?

Nice, I can tell that this is gonna be another expensive year :(:p

Multiple upgrades throughout the year.

GTX 980 > GTX 980 8GB > 390X > GM200 > Future AMD 8GB+ HBM Cards > Nvidia Pascal !!!

I'm gonna hide my wallet..

It says Amd's new cards are rumoured to only have 4gb, Surely they won't risk losing even more customers!

it doesn't say that, it just says AMD's new cards will "rollout with 4gb", doesn't mean AMD cant add 8gb cards later

just a bit of a silly comment slapped on the bottom by kitguru as far as i can make out :)

Well at least you can increase your post count by selling them at bargain prices in the mm ;)

Of course it says that O-O I did not just make it up lol

If amd release a new card with 4gb there silly, Obviously it's not a concrete spec.

Maxwell Titan - the way to go as it covers all options if you buy more than one.

Buying just one is a total waste of money and only for epeen.

there's no point bothering to put 8GB on a card that'll be outperformed in the next month or so by the 390X, because people will always go for power first.

unless this 8GB is going onto a more powerful 980, in which case wouldn't you call it the GTX 990.

Nvidia's best bet is a 8GB Titan that's cheap enough to upset AMD, a really big single card that's cheap.........keep the 970/980 as is now

Agreed, would rather see 8GB+ strapped onto the GM200, extra cores / cache / memory and even nicer Titan shroud cooler with the vapor chamber back in plz.

Buying just one is a waste of money? Did you really just write that :-D .. What about people that play games? A single high end GPU gives best experience imho. I hate dual cards apart from benching. Also it's way more E-peen to buy more than one GPU :p A single 390X / GM200 will do nicely for gaming.

4GB is already not enough

May sound silly coming from me but I would buy the 4gb versions of cards for a 2 way setup over the 8gb versions every time.

You may run out of VRAM on the 4gb cards 1 time in a 100 but the other 99 times the 4gb cards would be slightly quicker not to mention cheaper too.

lol what?
they are not only going to release a 8gb version that would be nuts
4gb first then 8gb, there's no news here other than NVidia 8gb is on the way

Why 4gb? Why not 6gb then an 8gb? High end cards using high res already maxes out 4gb in some games.

4GB is useless for 3D modelling, in fact, a gaming rig isn't quite right anyway, the CPU feels wrong too.

SLI is only good for gaming only, my rig was much faster with one card only, it used to start and shut down far quicker than now....... the pc was faster with the 7990 as well

i'll probably sell my 670s soon and switch back to a single monster card, i'll loose FPS for gaming, but gain more 3D modelling speed and RAM...........or get 390X Crossfire it just depends how i feel

4GB is becoming a problem with only 1080p as well, just look at FC4
