They don't go anywhere as you can't make a person stateless :p

I'd much prefer terrorists rotting away in prison for the rest of their lives than dead or out there in another country.

Let's not forget that our retribution on the Germans after WW1 was one of the direct causes of the rise of Hitler and Naziism in the first place.

So all in all of rather we didn't "win" like that at all.

It's times like this where you realise how in military the UK is compared to even other western nations.

The idea of military equipment and fully armed soldiers on the streets of mainland UK is basically unheard of!

Not that unheard of in our past history. Thankfully we have a very important separation between the role of the military and the Police, although many Northern Irish have experienced the "greying" of that boundary.

It's true actually.

The one hallmark of the ignorant I've noticed throughout life is a lack of nuance in thought & perspective.

Everything to them is an integer - decimals are nowhere to be seen.

It of course makes sense, it takes far less cognitive effort than to see the world in all it's complexity with linking & emergent systems - it's far easily to ascribe dualism based thinking to every single facet of life .

Not going to derail the thread but the hostage taker hadn't escalated the situation by killing a hostage, flying special forces in is better than sending in the police and there being civilian casualties, just as there were.
