EVGA teased its upcoming flagship graphics card, the GeForce GTX 980 Classified K|ngp|n Edition. Designed by the famed overclocker associated with the company, this card combines the best overclocking GTX 980 chips, with the fastest GDDR5 memory, and the strongest VRM in the industry, letting you chase overclocking and performance benchmark records. It retains the translucent cooler shroud theme from its predecessor based on the GTX 780 Ti, although the cooler appears to be a beefier ACX 2.0.

The card draws power from a combination of two 8-pin, and one 6-pin PCIe power connectors, giving you an idea of just how much juice the card can take in, to keep your overclock stable. The card is prepped for liquid cooling, and has electricals to negate cold-bugs, and an active electrical trace that keeps the PCB heated, to prevent frosting. EVGA also gave us a glimpse of the card's abilities with a jaw-dropping 3DMark FireStrike score of 20,816 pts. There's no idea on when the company plans to launch this card, or if it even will, especially given that NVIDIA's next-generation GTX TITAN-X is just around the corner. Maybe EVGA is betting on NVIDIA keeping that card vanilla (preventing AICs from coming up with custom-design cards).

OLD.

:p seen this coming for awhile. In all seriousness though, just don't see the appeal. This is such a nieche product even compared to the previous card. Only hardcore need apply.

Though I'm a bit bored of benching of late.

With the big Max Titan waiting in the wings it makes buying a Kingpin 980 a bit of a kamikazi option.

Will you be getting the GM Titans on launch day ?

lol!

Does a bear * in the woods? But given the hints dropped by people in the industry I'm not sure we're going to see the 980 replaced for a few months

Gone are the days I spend mad money on Gpu's as I never use them to their full potential. Although I do like the look of these...

Same for me Gee in truth. I am using only 2 of my 3 Titans, which breeze through everything at 1440P and I am seriously just enjoying gaming and have not run a bench in months :(

When my Titans start to struggle with max settings, I will take the sell hit (whatever it is) and grab a couple of new nVidia GPUs.

Keep em for three years - if not only to shut up those who still bring up the RRP :p

I don't even game much other than a bit of BF4. Mine are just sat gathering dust. That said... The Titans are still one of the best all round cards available to this day.
