MG279Q WQHD IPS 120Hz Gaming Monitor – CES 2105

This is a upcoming monitor purpose built for gamers who have been looking for an IPS based display with refresh rates higher than 60Hz. While the monitor is still in design and development stages the initial specifications and features and functionality are great.
Still in development stages.....So 2105 means the expected release date..:D

It depends whether you intend to keep your GPUs or stick with Nvidia and whether you want to use G-SYNC or ULMB.

I plan to keep my GTX 780 SLI setup for now, I mostly only ever play Battlefield 4 the most , some CS:GO and other shooters like FarCry4.

Im keeping my lovely Asus ProArt monitor for Digital Art and daily Photoshopping, and I want one of these new AHVA 120/144hz monitors for the aformentioned games.

Basically which ever monitor will make me feel less sick when looking around quickly, I find in battlefield 4 on close quaters maps I start to feel sick / headaches after a while, especially when I have to keep doing sharp turns on maps like "Pearl market" :p

To be honest im not really sure the difference is between ULMB and a high refresh rate, and which Is the most important to my gaming!

Hurray :( for proprietary standards, even ASUS don't know which camp to support. I hope by the time Skylake gets released (my next build schedule), it'll be clearer whether the industry will go freesync or gsync.

Another one that's confused!

freesync is AMD's driver software to support the use of the VESA standard adaptive sync

So yes free/g sync are proprietary the VESA bit ain't. There's nothing to stop Nvidia supporting it

I think I'll be picking one up.

Edit: Looks like Asus plan to go up to 144Hz, but no mention if it can run FreeSync.

The MG279Q is a 27-inch IPS-spec display that’ll run at 120+Hz (we’re still working on certifying 144Hz ready for launch) at WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution.

Announcement Spec:
27 inch
WQHD (2560×1440) resolution
In-Plane Switching (IPS spec) panel
120+Hz
DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, two HDMI ports and a Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) 2.0 (1080p max), plus simultaneous charging.
2x USB 3.0.
Super narrow bezel design

It supports variable sync so yes according to vid pcper did at ces2015. Watch djkav vid he posted

They ain't going to tout it as so not to upset nvidia, though I don't see why they should care. Its nvidia that need them/monitor manufactures

Quite fancy one if price is reasonable, Have the pb278q 1440p now. Got it March(ish) time last year :(

Nice monitor/picture though :D

Thank you, but my 4 month old 970s do not have DP1.2a. Thus within the next build - I'll not only have a new socket 1151, but will have to change to the next gen of vga cards plus the new monitor.

It's actually 6 months were the onus is on the retailer.

Lots or shops/retailers try to fob people off with this. Had it with curry's a few year back.

The DOA is irrelevant as its 6 month regardless. As long as If its a fault and not abuse/dropped or whatever
