EVGA Teases GeForce GTX 980 Classified K|ngp|n Edition

Anyone think 8Pack could take out Mr Kingpin?

Shhh what not supposed to talk about wacking people on the internet.... here is a fax machine much safer ;)

But seriously this card seem's to be cutting it fine in terms of release date there are much bigger sharks hiding right around the corner :D

EVGA are going for a double hit, by launching this they screw over everyone who bought a classified, and by releasing it so close to the sharks they screw over everyone who buys this too :D

I don't think they see it that way but their consumers do. But they can't really tell you how it is, because it offends those who feel hard done by.

In essence you shouldn't really want a KPE if you already own a Classified as it's aimed at people looking to put them on cold specifically.

Which really if you think about it is bull, because half the people wanting to put Maxwell on cold waited months for the Classified anyway. Common sense would be to let people know this was in fact coming.

Basically, with all due respect EVGA - do one :p

+1

As I said earlier I don't think even Kingpin uses these cards (they are purely for marketing) and I think his are specially binned.

95% of these cards will never see LN2 which also defeats the point of them.

I would take this to be a sign that 'big Maxwell' is still some time away, if anyone is in the know about nvidias plans it's evga.

can we not get a 8pack edition card ?

still reckon 8 pack could snap him like a twig :)

LOL

To be fair, EVGA has more GPU SKUs than everyone else combined. So this, the 970 FTW+ and the new 980 Hydrocopper AIO lineup are just contemplating their "something for everyone" thought process. I would much rather there be options than 1-2 SKUs only.

I suspect that 8 Pack has done a lot of work with the venders and deserves a lot of credit for his efforts.

It would be nice to see an 8 Pack version of the next top of the line card and I would really like to see something like an 8 Pack Asus Platinum Titan from the next generation.

The down side to this is anyone who wants a bargain basement GPU should avoid EVGA as they are very unlikely to win the silicon lottery due to binning.

As far as I understand, besides his and ocuks involvement with the galax cards, he works quite closely with msi, or at least provides feedback that is taken on board for production.

Does anyone else feel that this card is turning up to the party but everyone is already drunk and ready to go home? It just feels so late. Not to take anything away from it though and it is a beast.
