Them saying it doesn't invoke interference does not mean it is exempted. Ofcom themselves have to specifically exempt the device.

Femtocells are exempted and thus are legal because Ofcom check each and every one.

This is probably because it's receiving a weak Rx signal from the mast that you've pointed the antenna at, bringing it into your building and then shoving it through a Chinese amplifier to give it the beans. So your phone thinks that it has a strong signal, and turns the Tx power down to suit, and the result is what you saw.

My comment was about what happened before buying the booster, and it was my reason for purchasing

As I said though, odd because it is intermittent and the past couple of weeks it has been perfect call quality (without the booster, as I never fitted it)
