So here's, a little story for you
On Friday I built my brand new X99 build, here are the specs:

EVGA X99 Micro
Crucial 16 GB DDR4 2133
Intel i7 5820k
Palit Super Jetstream GTX 980
Super flower Golden Green 650w
Corsair H55
Some SP120's
480GB SSD
1TB HDD
Windows 8.1 Pro
Some random Xigmatech case (soon to be a Fractal Arc Mini r2)

All went fine, installed Windows, installed my games etc, used the system all day Saturday playing several hours of games with no hiccups.

This is when Windows update piped up, so I rebooted as requested...

Flashy lights, beeps, fans all normal...no image on screen.

I take a look at the error code on the board...A2...do some googling, tells me things about SATA ports, so I unplug everything except the C drive, still nothing.

Do a few cycles, it goes past A2 this time, then seems to be cycling verrrrrrry slowly through 34,35,36,37....etc

I start losing my **** at this point, googling points towards RMA'ing the board.

I'm literally seconds away at this point from phoning Overclockers...then I notice something, something...odd.

The light on my 23" Apple Cinema display is off (the old model)...I press the power button....doesn't come on, unplug it, plug it back in...nothing.

'NO WAY' I shout (prompting questions from the Mrs).

Plug in my other monitor, and I see a lovely being X99 splash screen, and Windows seconds later.

I couldn't believe it, I'm an IT Technician for Christ's sake, I do this crap for a living.

It seems the error codes aren't errors at all, its just normal operation of the board when it's on.

I am now left with a dead monitor and not a dead PC, which is preferable, seeing as the monitor was free the PC has cost me a fair whack.

Anyway, that was my Saturday afternoon :o

That sounds like the board has successfully posted and is now displaying the CPU temp.

Sorry but being an IT technician doesn't give you an insight into power user platforms lol. I was an IT technician for 10 years, doesn't prepare you for these new platforms and all the problems that come with them :)

Yup exactly that.

The joys of working and playing in IT :)

It should prepare you for checking if a monitor powers on though :D

And yes, Im always laughing at users when stuff is broken and turns out it's not plugged in. In my defence it couldn't have died at a worse time!

How do I get this thread moved?
