390X or 980ti - which one are you going for?

I'm waiting for either the 390X or 980ti to replace my 7970's. I hope both of these cards will be more powerful than the 2 I'm using at the moment.

Really don't care if I go team red or green as I've owned both in the past.

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me?

:)

390X

Im holding onto my 7950s until this card, That's only if it delivers the same performance of a 295x2 or close to the performance of one.

Otherwise there is no point in upgrading, I want etleast twice the performance I have now from the next card I get.

Giving it a month or so after the first one launches, if no word from Team B then snagging what's available. If the 390X does have HBM then that.

Id like something that is close to/matches 780 sli. No idea if any of the upcoming cards will do so.

When has the performance of a flagship gpu matched the performance of the previous dual gpu flagship? I'd like that, but I dont see it happening :(

If I was going to jump, it would deffo be the Titan II. I have no interest in what AMD launch for myself and will be sticking with what has always been reliable for me.

I may be wrong but I honestly believe that neither of those will yield you enough of a perfomance boost over what you have now to really warrant an upgrade. Of course this is not meant to dissuade you or anything, just chiming in with an opinion. They might not be groundbreaking from the performance standpoint but the efficiency and a hassle-free single GPU setup should be worth ditching the 7970s for

I wonder whether the blokes at AMD and NVidia will manage to squeeze 50% more grunt than a pair of 7970s has out of those cards;p

One thing to note, 390X might be what they call this rumoured refresh rather than the Pirate Islands badman card we're really waiting for.

Id still be happy to upgrade if that was the case. Same power with just one card. That impresses me enough to make the change.

Without any official spec / reviews / benchmarks it's hard to pick which one you want unless it's based purely on which brand you prefer.

I don't have a brand preference either way so I guess the only way for to pick is say whichever card gives a good healthy 20%+ performance boost over my 980, along with a decent amount of vram for all these vram hogging console games on PC :p

Wish they would hurry up and release these already !!

In the same boat as you Combat Fighter! Thought about replacing when the 290's went dirt cheap but I really want a powerful single GPU card that can out perform what I have now - from either manufacturer to be honest!

My usual upgrade is when something is 50% faster than what I'm currently using. If both manage it then I'll probably go back to nVidia simply because I fancy a change and I have had two AMD cards in a row. More likely is neither will manage it and I'll wait.

Fair enough, mate. I think they will definitely be faster than a pair of 7970s but just how much faster I can only speculate. 20-25% would be my bet, if it's more than that then all the better for you;p
