390X or 980ti - which one are you going for?

From the benchmarks i have seen of the 390x it does not look impressive enough to be worth jumping to, not from an OCED 970.

The difference was around 10-15% faster than a 980/oced 970 if i remember right.. at 1080p and 1440p anyway, it was a bigger difference in 4k but the minimums would still be quite low with one card.

Good card for people upgrading from an older series though no doubt.
That was the Captain Jack 380X, later benchmarks (Captain Jack again) put the 390X about 10 - 15% faster than the GM200, (Titan II / GTX 980TI)

If you believe such things. :)

Don't think we will see a 980ti as there is no room left on the chip so that just leaves the 390X.

I think there will be a GTX 970ti though as there is room between the 970 and 980 for one.

I'm waiting for full fat Maxwell.
As much as the HBM Vram sounds good I want to keep ma G-Sync. If full fat isn't what I'm hoping for I don't know what I'll do.

I really can't see the point of there being a 970Ti, It would essentially be an overclocked 970 or underclocked 980, A little pointless to be honest as you can overclock the 970 to near 980 levels anyway.

Neither, I heve 290's in crossfire so I'm waiting till dx12 comes out and proper cards to support all its bells and whistles.

nothing for me, wasted too much money on gpu's lately, i could have kept my old 7970 crossfire and still played the games around today. a nice new monitor is going to be my next purchase

No ones gonna have a good time playing games at 4k the power is just not there! Unless you're that guy who buys 4 of everything lol.... i dont fancy spending grands to still struggle playing games.

Rubbish, last gen cards run 4K nicely, and you don't need 3/4 cards to do it.

When will these cards be released? Thinking about swapping my CF290X for something, need to play Witcher 3 maxed with ease.

Depends as I’ve just brought (and now trying to sell) two 970 G1’s, I’m more interested in the 980ti/990 but if the AMD card’s tick all the right boxes I may give them another chance (there currently 0 – 3, so it will probably be the last one)

If I can’t sell the 970’s for a decent price then I will almost certainly skip a couple of gen's (unless something amazing comes out)

Brought? You mean bought?

Prices have now went up!!

And by up i mean £50 nearly lol...

I bet when the 960's are released, they are going to be the same price as the 970's were a few weeks back. Making them not every good value compared to the 970's pricing history.

@ Nines11, Yes, and go away! :P

The coffee machine in the office isn’t working so just be thankful my post doesn’t consist of whatever characters are pressed by rolling my face over the keyboard.

Which ever comes in at £350 to £400 at launch with a very good custom cooler and is a good increase over the 290. So that looks like it's Amd for me as going by nvidia's track record unless Amd have something better at the time it's doubtful they will offer full fat versions of Maxwell at that price. 256bit versions are the best they can offer of late.
