confused

Hi guys,

I want future proof X99 is new X97 old I don't want old I want the latest processors why are recommending old things I thought the new stuff was always the way to go with computers:confused::confused::confused: I DON'T WANT TO SLI I am not great and if anything goes wrong I cant fix it my self that's why I only want 1 card. Are the components I have picked not compatible:confused::confused: Thanks for your replies James

Everything you have picked out is compatible.

You need a cooler which I dont see listed, unless you want a suggestion for one?

There are bundles that save money,

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus X99-S - Intel Core i7 5930K Six Core CPU & Motherboard Bundle ***£30 Saving*** £675.98
1 x Asus X99-S - Intel Core i7 5820K Six Core CPU & Motherboard Bundle ***£30 Saving*** £517.98
Total : £1,203.56 (includes shipping : £8.00).

The 5820K is the same as a 5830K (minus 200Mhz) and it just has less PCi-E lanes for less GFX card support so may better better for you.

And you will not need a 1000W PSU either,

YOUR BASKET
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £59.99
1 x Antec TruePower Classic 550w '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply £55.99
Total : £125.58 (includes shipping : £8.00).

They will run that with a single GTX970.

Is that Coolermaster Cosmos case one you already own?

If you won't SLI you can save a lot of money and perhaps put it elsewhere

- Smaller wattage, cheaper power supply (a nice 550W to 750W should cover you for plenty of years and probably adding new graphics cards etc)
- 5820k CPU as the *main* thing the 5930k offers over the 5820k is the amount of PCIE lanes which you won't be using anyway if you aren't going 2+ cards, though strictly speaking the 5930k would be a little bit faster
- Cheaper motherboard, you could go for a cheaper motherboard and still have great features, spending £330 on the board isn't really necessary (obviously this is your choice and if you like the board, fair enough) - e.g. a bundle http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-022-AS

With the money saved, you could add another one of the Crucial SSDs you have (what exact SSD is it you have?) and perhaps run them in RAID.

Hi guys,
Thanks for that looks like you have saved me a few quid there so here it is

Asus X99-S - Intel Core i7 5930K Six Core CPU & Motherboard Bundle
Kingston Predator 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Quad Channel Kit - Black
Cooler Master Cosmos SE Mid Tower Case
Samsung 128GB SSD 850 PRO SATA 6Gbps 3D NAND Solid State Drive
Corsair CS750M 750W Semi-Modular 80+ GOLD Certified Power Supply
Noctua NH-U12S Ultra-Quiet Slim CPU Cooler with NF-F12 Fan
LG 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM GH24NSC0.AUAA10B
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)

I took less power than originally,But I will add more hard drives later so might need more power. The fan looks a cracker with lots of great reviews thanks there. I hope this lasts as long as my last pc 5-6 years that's why I want it future proof. Do you get a discount for lots of things together or a free build thrown in:D thanks for your replies James

Is there a reason you went for the 5930k or do you reckon you could get away with the 5820k?

I don't want to be in the situation that I have been in so many times before. I wish I had bought the more expensive bit or I wish I should have never bought that:eek:

Indeed, plus the 200Mhz stock speed difference will help.

Are you happy with the case choice?

I like the cases with big fans and low noise what did you have in mind and why something else:confused:I feel like I am missing something or forgetting something I am right in thinking I don't need a sound card?

You do not need a sound card, but if onboard audio is really really important to you then X99 from say Gigabyte such as the Gaming 5 have Creative Core3D sound chip, Nichicon capacitors and OP-AMP upgrades.
