Shooting at French Satirical Magazine

The struggle to affect what we can and cannot say/draw/etc about their imaginary friend in the sky and related, non-imaginary figures?

the campaign to suppress our values and beliefs and impose their own, namely being that the qur'an is the word of god, to be followed by all.

Fundamentally changing the way we live our lives. Freedom of expression will be dead in the water

But asking that small question means you seem blind to any of that. Talking to you would be like bludgeoning my head against a brick all

That which you hold dearly. Can't you see that?

How is not drawing them pictures changing my life ?
i've never went out of my way to insult religious people.

It's disturbing that he even asked that question

i think you were disturbed way before i asked that question:p

Who said they were fighting against you personally? Just because you do not choose to exercise specific right, it does not mean that they are not being eroded or compromised by blatantly bullying tactics.

Not that I am suggesting taking up arms to defend these rights. Just live your life without changing how you behave in response to these incidents. Easy win!

On the downside, there is some danger such incidents will prompt legislation changes that are harder to ignore. Like all the new rules at airports, for example.

same applies to an extremely high percentage of the uk population...honestly if it wasn't allowed, it really wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

what the terrorists do doesn't affect how i live my life.

Not really clear what the issue is here. The answer to your question is generally that they may not be winning anything against you personally. But occasionally these incidents will bring about changes that do affect you. Where is the point of contention?

If they are making us make changes that affect us all then how are we winning...

The one thing that annoys me about the whole thing is the fact that the company will hit record profits out of it. They did on average 60k published works before this, now doing a print run of 3 million copies. I just can't get the thought of profiteering from peoples deaths out of my mind.

I also don't get how its been blown so far out of proportion compared to other recent events, such as ISIS murdering thousands of people in days (rounding up men, women and children, throwing them into a pits and shooting them before burning the bodies), but that didn't even hit european news outlets. Free speech is fine and dandy, but the media really do rule peoples opinions and ideals nowadays.
