hi

with what has possibly become a dead system, i will be requiring a new mobo, cpu and ram.

currently using phenom 955black, asus m4a88td-v evo and 12gb corsair xms3 1600, can re-use the rest.

usage will be browsing/fps gaming on bf3/4 at 1080p

no particular need to overclock, but the option in the furture might be nice...

thx in advance,

nobby

How about you hold onto two sticks (making 8GB I'm guessing?) of RAM and try it in the new mobo, to see if it works?

Check the Intel Z97 bundles.

that's an option. i have 4x4gb, but could never get the thing stable with 4 sticks, and can't get the 12gb stable at 1600, only 1333...

if it saves cash, its good :D

i should add, system is not utterly dead, but just won't power up. i have had an issue for some time after power cuts etc, where i have to power off the psu, wait for the power led in mobo to surge in brightness, the hit the power button to get it to 'latch' and fire up. woke up following bad weather and power outage last night and its not having it this time...

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £185.99
1 x Gigabyte Z97X-SLI Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £89.99
1 x Antec TruePower Classic 550w '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply £55.99
1 x Raijintek Aidos Direct Contact CPU Cooler - Black £14.99
Total : £361.06 (includes shipping : £11.75).

you might want a new PSU then, check the cooler fits in your case, but its not particularly massive.

hmm, not sure the psu is the issue, if i can get the board to fire up, all works fine, mobo still has power to it. its been like this for 18 months or so...

i currently have a gelid tranquilo in an antec sonata case, is it possible to re-use the cooler on socket 1150?

mucho thanks for help so far... ;)

If it has socket 1156/55 support then the Gelid will fit 1150 also.

I hope all your drives are SATA? as I see your existing board has a IDE port.
