Oxford University Press bans use of pig, sausage or pork-related words to avoid offending Muslims

Even the magic book itself is filled with murder.

Some of my favourites.

Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

lovely. god likes the smell of burning human flesh and advocates the murder of innocents and the rape of virgins.

A bunch of anything I don't mind's fictional brain dribblings

Galileo Galilei was not put to death by the church he died of natural causes aged 77, he also had a remarkable amount of support from many church scholars, he just unfortunately had the misfortune of having to contend with the extremist dogmatic nature of the Roman Inquisition and the control it exercised of a weak Pope (Pope Urban VIII who had in fact been a good friend and admirer of Galileo).

Incidentally Galileo was just expanding on much of the great work done by earlier Islamic scholars.

lol sure. Did you learn that on the discovery channel?

This is another favourite:

Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children. (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

lol sure.

You are in a Grade A delusional idiot

lol religious are one to talk about reality. ghahahaha

That night the angel of the Lord went forth and struck down one hundred and eighty five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. Early the next morning, there they were, all the corpuses of the dead. (2 Kings 19:35 NAB)

Religious? Who?

Do you even know why you're posting these quotes?

Its to show that religious people are worshipping an evil god that, promotes rape and mass murder and even murder of children.

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her. (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT)

This is meant to be "the lord" speaking. God thinks we can rape women then claim them as our wives, by just paying off the father. This is what omniscient being who has a thing or two to say about eating bacon has to say about rape.

See I love this - when it comes to great feats of science and cultural it's Islamic when it comes to cutting young girls it's cultural.

Then you don't understand it. Islamic doesn't stop the pursuit of knowledge and as such Muslims were able to contribute a little to science. Islam does however condemn harming children.

And who exactly is it that you're directing these quotes at?

Maybe so. But in those cases where it is motivated by religion, it is not just cultural.

There isn't anything in any of the religions that calls for it. So I'm not sure how it can be motivated by religion.

Plus it's pretty difficult to argue them as being intrinsically separate, even if they are separately defined.

To argue that religion isn't a result of the culture of the time is also rather ludicrous.

And they built on that of the likes of the Greeks before them. So?

I love the Islamic scholars cliche. As if being Islamic was the main motivation. As if human curiosity was not driving people to learn about the world around them (where social circumstances allowed) for quite a long time prior to the rise of Islam.

Except that people are saying the practice came about BECAUSE of religion. Which isn't true. I'm not defending religion, I'm not a follower of any. I'm just defending truth and reality.

People who dislike religion are all to quick to foam at the mouth and ascribe negative things to religion just because they don't like religion.

Doesn't stop them using them as suicide bombers though.

Who are "them" exactly?

Are you implying that Christianity(and therefore a religion that they could've been a part of if not Islam) didn't hinder many of our developments in science?

Because I'm sure you are mistaken there.
