After 2 years with GT86 going for a change.
Hopefully pick it up next saturday it is going to be a long 7 days

I had two test drives and it is great car and very fast

Performance exhaust is great

the gearbox is very smooth

I was going for a new build but I asked the dealer if they had any unregistered ones in country and they had one we struck a deal on the price.

Here is the spec
White
AMG Performance exhaust
AMG steering wheel
Panoramic roof
heated seats
Intelligent lighting
Mirror package

I saw one of those today with a big spoiler on the back, it did look pretty damn cool!

I saw one shoot past. They are awesome...!

Very quick and the sound of the engine and exhaust left me in depression..!

Sounds good, enjoy Wyatt!

Any particular reason you went for the A class? I know they're incredibly capable, but it always seems to me that the M135i / Audi S3 get more attention - not sure if thats because they are priced lower though.

It does send power to all four wheels, but is biased towards the front like the VW halex system?

Great car, but stupid money for what is essentially a 2l fwd hot hatch.

Enjoy chap.

Aren't they meant to be pretty stupendous on the road though?

So much for amazing handling gt86. The lure of power gets to everyone i s'pose even if it is FF.

Not everyone :)

I was looking at a number of cars and the M135i ,S3,Golf R were in the mix as well as a wild card the Suburu STI.
I was looking at secondhand but there is a real difference in the finance options i.e 3% apr.
I went for the mercedes because for number reasons Performance and the slick auto box and it looks because I did not want quad exhausts and I did not like the look of the 1 series.
In traffic and on the road the AMG would not stand out unless you gunning it because it sounds fantastic.
On the tast drive it handled fine and it has 3 modes comfort,Sport and manual.
comfort is great in traffic(pussycat) and sport mode is mental.
When people say it is only hothatch go and check youtube
The stats are amazing 0-60 4.6 0-100 mph 10.5 and in gear stats are impressive.

This. Same deal as the RS3 - honestly can't see why anyone would spend this kind of money on a small hatchback. And a four-pot engine at that money - seriously? Don't care how powerful it is, it should have at least a five if not six cylinder engine IMO.

And, as everyone seems to enjoy bashing the interior of the A3 so much, I'm going to have my say on the A-class - it's hideous and that screen looks like someone's blutacked a Tesco Hudl to the dash.

Each to their own of course and if it's what you want then good for you, I just can't see the logic myself.

I don't normally like these kind of cars, but I absolutely love the A45. I remember driving pretty quick down a B road in Surrey once, having one appear behind me, immediately fly past me and disappear into the distance. I've wanted one ever since, although I could never justify what they cost new.

Remember test driving the A45 with Evo magazine up in North Wales, the guys didn't really like the car and nor did I tbh. Each to their own of course.

The RS3 is a 5 cylinder engine isn't it?

Congrats OP, my brother had one when they first came out although he is currently looking at RS4s now as he needs some extra space. They don't really stand out unless you have the aerokit, I was surprised at how good the exhaust was especially when in sport mode :) Fairly easy to get some extra power from it too if you get bored, there are a few tuning boxes you can buy now and replacing the downpipe and mid pipe makes it sound even better :p

Was in the same situation as the OP last year. Had a new GT86 for about a 1 1/2 year before the upgrade bug stuck. Rather than spending £7k+ for a FI and supplementary mods, I thought it would be more sensible to just get a more powerful car to begin with.

I was looking at the A45 AMG, M135i and Golf R but I went for the M135i in the end, as I managed to find a dealer on a forum that was willing to give me a 19% discount on a brand new car built to my specifications.

Yes, never said it wasn't. When I said this was the "same deal" as the RS3 I was referring to stupid money for a small hatchback. In addition to that it has a four cylinder engine which at least the RS3 doesn't but the Audi is still daft IMHO.
