Looking to get one, don't want USB in really as i want to be able to use this as well for my gaming headset.
anyone got anything good that they would recommend?

About to have a go at building my own (based on a modified cmoy circuit) couldn't find one with the features I wanted without paying 300+ just for thr brand name.

Saw creative just released a new line up that looks fairly decent.

build your own! thats brave! or very clever i see the benefits of it.
i saw creative have just released some stuff.

I currently use usb for both mic and headphones on the pc and ps4 but i want better sound hence the need for red and white in puts so i can just use a standard cable for the audio and leave the mic as is.

Whats your plans for your custom build. talk me through this.

You don't mention what you are using at the moment, so it's impossible to say what would be an upgrade.

You mention USB input so are you actually meaning a DAC and headphone amp rather than just the amp?

You then mention the red and white inputs, which are line in and are the standard input for all amps.

If it's only an amp you want then the Schiit Magni 2 Uber is a steal at £125

If you need a DAC too then the Schiit Modi 2 Uber has USB, co-axial and optical inputs and should be around the same price.

Due to the nature of the job i need it to do a DAC wont work as i wont be able to use the mic. Not that people will mind. So just an amp would be cool. I use a Xonar 3 usb thing

Bought an enclosure (still waiting on the PCB - in this case using prototype board - that fits it).

Decided to go with the relatively simple cmoy variant as I've not done anything with electronics in 15+ years - theres loads of reference material online for building variants of it and all the different versions of power supply, output stages, etc.

I've decided to jump in head first and use an AD8066 op amp with a redesigned power supply stage to try and improve on bass performance and the virtual ground - which is not for the faint of heart and may end up ditching it for a more forgiving op amp though tbh I'm not really expecting the first attempt to be a success any way.

Can't you just add a usb hub so you won't miss out on any usb dac/headphone amp combination?

Its worth having usb , gives more options . My arcam irdac for instance has usb to my pc , optical from my tv and coaxial from my arcam blu ray player :)
