Guys in case i can't get a good headset with Mic then eventually i will have to buy a good microphone.

Can you guys advise me and also find me the best Microphone out there for streaming and talking on videos etc for £50 or less please.

Thanx :)

Samson Go or Samson Meteor, both are USB microphones and will do the job :)

Edit: Or blue snowball mic, which is sold at OCUK :)

Just had a wee look at a couple of reviews and that Modmic looks good. I really need an omni-drectional mic as i have my PC up on my desk about 5 inches from my right elbow lol

The Snowball ICE is only cardioid (directly in front of it only, useful for voice), whereas the non-ICE version has a switch on the back which allows you to set it to cardioid, cardioid + 10dB (more sensitive), or omni-directional (where it'll pick up from all around)

Have you considered a modmic?

I made a mistake i meant Cardiod so it will only get my voice and keep out my fans on the PC beside me.

Is the modmic worth £40?? Is it better then the Snowball ICE?

Thanx for the answers guys ;)

Snowball ICE is of course better but I think the problem will be it is still a sensitives microphone so even being cardoid it will pick up background sounds. So I think in this situation the modmic will be better suited as its primary purpose is for gaming.

Of course if you don't fancy the modmic, clip on mics can be had for under £10

I want it for youtube videos and streaming so needs to be good. Might go down the Modmic route but i don't like the extra wires :(

Oh then I guess the snowball ICE would be ideal, people will have to put up with you clicking away etc :p I guess it can be reduced by positioning and the direction in which mic is pointed, also changing the sensitivity should help.

Maybe another option is you can get one of those microphone desk arms from fleabay combined with a dynamic USB microphone such as the studiospares ux100.

I think snowball will be fine though with some adjustments as steaming etc is one of the main reasons people buy it

Guys i am very close to buying my new microphone and am frustrated at choosing which one to go for :(

1. Snowball Ice
2. Modmic 4.0

My main concern is that my PC (under my desk) is quite noisy fan wise and i have to remove noise via audacity.

I want to avoid this and was thinking if i positioned the snowball mic with it's back to the noise source it would not pick it up as easily BUT it would mean being sideways on to my mouth.
I understand that the modmic is noise cancelling to an extent and doesn't pick up surrounding noise as much?

Which should i go for???? I want good quality and no need for audacity noise removal.

P.S. This is going to be used for in-game footage and audio PLUS youtube voice over etc.

Very happy with my Modmic and £35 not £40 for the mute less option. The one with a mute switch, just adds unnecessary weak points in the cable IMO. So save a fiver and get the switch less one.
Excellent sound quality.
