Hi all,

We have an old Xbox 360, well my 11yr old son has it now, one of the early models with the 20gb hard drive in a grey plastic lid, and huge grey brick of an external PSU.

My sons both use that old 360 more than my old PC, as most of their friends still seem to be on Xbox live with 360's.

Thing is, it makes a hell of a racket, the fan noise is like a small hoover, the storage appaling, and the external brick! Jeez.

Does anyone know of any way of rehousing it, better cooling, or making it quieter even if it was another PC case?

Or am I wasting time and effort when a 360 slim may do the job.

360's go for pennies, if I was you I'd just hunt down a 250GB Slim. It's not really worth getting your hands dirty!

Have you tried cleaning it? I opened up mine after a few years and while there wasn't an excessive amount of dust it did run quieter after a good clean. While you have it open an option is to replace the fans, from memory the normal ones are 72mm but a slight mod you can fit 80mm ones in.

Both of the above may improve cooling and noise but wont do anything about storage or power brick so for them then I agree with pumaxz, a cheap slim might be best.

Just get the new sim.

Its more reliable, quieter, and has built in Wifi and Optical Audio out.

Its also get a dedicated kinect port so if you ever buy a kinect you need less wires.

Well so much for that.

Just received this email from Asda.

Dear Customer

I'm sorry to have to let you know that unfortunately, due to popular demand, the games console you ordered with us is no longer available. A mistake on our website meant that the console was still showing as available even after we had sold out.

As a result we have had to cancel your order and arrange for your payment to be returned to your bank account.

Please allow between 3-5 working days for this to appear in your account.

That's a shame but it doesn't surprise me. Asda are pretty ****ing terrible at everything they do.
