Noob here... I had a mission to collect a black box. I found it, then on way back to station to deliver I come across a USS and some guy tells me to forget all about the black box. I delivered it anyway, and got paid. What was that about? Second time it happened, although first time I hadn't even found it, and never did in the end, but I remember it was the same guy telling me to forget all about it.

They are just an alternate mission. When you go on killing missions, you always get an alternate mission.

I was just there, I ran away as there were far too many Anacondas in the mix and it was a little hectic lol... :)

OMFG ARGH.

Someone call claims direct ;_;

Just lost my Anaconda in the most ridiculous way lmao, i'm still laughing...

Somewhere just after halfway;

Was in the combat zone at Neto, was there for a good few hours, made abour 400k and had to keep going back to restock, then RIP.

So glad I had the insurance, otherwise it would have been serious tears, should be able to make it back in a few hours..... enough elite for tonight.....:D

That was comical :D

I'm still in the lower reaches of Eagle ownership, made the trek to SOL and well; it's a bit dull. Tonight I'm going to opportunistically bounty hunt 120ly back to where I parked my Cobra and do some trading.

I was literally right next to him. Wasn't space for anyone to get between us :) and he was definitely wanted.

Tried to run but they just took me out too quick.

Was,thinking though, do pirates travel in groups, and if you attack one, do other pirates go to his aid?

I didn't scan the other ships around at time. Will do from now on though!

If you're in a battle for a while, and you have it set to 'automatically report crimes against me', then the local security forces will show up to give you a hand. Accidentally tag one of them then they'll come after you and you'll get a fine like you described.

Yeah, I had that happen to me Sunday. Although they just killed me, and didn't bother with just a fine.

Wasn't in this fight long enough for anyone to show up. I definitely did not hit any friendlies yesterday, and was sure I had done nothing to receive a fine prior.

How buggy is this game? Just wondering if experienced some kind of glitch.

Either way, next time I know to scan all ships before doing anything.

It would help me greatly in escaping if upgraded thrusters and armour, but am desperately trying to keep what little money I get to buy a ship with more cargo space, without sacrificing what I consider essentials.

I had one Fed ship fly into my lasers = 400 Cr fine. He and his 2x wingmen then turned on me, so I killed all 3 for a total fine of almost 20,000Cr. It was nice to punish stupidity for a change.

ED really need to introduce a simple check to fix this issue. If the ship you hit is not actually targeted = friendly fire. This simple check will stop the wanted and fined crap for what is clearly the NPC pilots fault.

Lol :D Thank god you had enough to cover the insurance ...

After my mishap regarding the exit of the station I have now managed to get back on the trade route and starting to restock my rares. Managed to get a few credits so far but I am certainly taking it a bit more steady on the docking procedure.

Can anyone recommend weapon loadouts for an Asp? I just have the two basic pulse lasers it comes with at the moment. I took on an unshielded sidewinder that attacked me and it took way too long to destroy it. Against anything with shields I'd probably lose.

I've got 2x fixed beam lasers in the class 2 slots and 4x gimballed Multi-cannons in the class 1 slots.

I'm thinking I might mix it up a bit though, as I ran out of MC ammo after the 11 conflict zone kills.

Why? I someone shot/hit me, even if it was by 'accident' I would be ticked off too :)

If you implement too any safety features it would be plain dull.

Yeah, screw leaving the station without insurance in a 210M Anaconda, especially when the NPC AI has been programmed by Stevie Wonder..

Actually happened at a good time, as I've been putting off re-certifying my CCIE for playing elite endlessly, when I really need to do it, so might ramp down a bit on the gaming for a few weeks, and just do some light trading to make the loss back..

What's the insurance on the Anaconda, I'm thinking it would've been about 8.5 million?

Right at the end of the vid, was 7.7M including modules, mostly A/B rated apart from Thrusters and a C power plant, about 210M worth.

edit - ffs, i'm still laughing each time I watch the vid, probably my funniest death in any game for a long, long time..

Do you actively need to take insurance out? Or is that the buy back cost?

I have not done anything to take out insurance, but always have the option to buy back my ship with all its upgrades.

Or is that just because I am a pauper on lowly beginners ship?

Yeah, rebuy cost would be a more accurate name for what I'm talking about, there's no additional insurance you have to take out.

If you were in a conflict zone and had a couple bullets strike your shield by accident you'd be ticked off?

In a more traditional flight sim game it might be easier to predict the manoeuvres of those around you, but when ships can thrust in any direction without warning, it's pretty much inevitable that there will be the occasional friendly fire incident - especially against some of the more brain dead AI pilots.

There needs to be some way of saying 'sorry' (without having to dig through loads of side menu screens) for the odd mishap. Of course if you score several 'accidental' hits, then it probably isn't accidental and you should suffer the consequences!

I think people just need to shoot more carefully. Y'all are too trigger happy! I used to do that in Arma and Operation Flashpoint too, I got in a fair bit of trouble for friendly fire once the combat got hairy.

As well as what has been said about the Feds showing up with a delay for travel time (and it may be from another Clean NPC you accidentally tagged doing the report), you do sometimes get pirates in groups but I think that only happens at a USS... or at least that's how its gone for me so far.

I've taken out people with zero bounty at an anarchy nav beacon and can confirm quite a lot of the time 2 ships will jump in a few minutes later and immediately start attacking, no scans.
