I am getting a new computer in a few weeks. I will be keeping my old one. The old one has a i7 2600 non k that does need a little overclocking when playing MMORPGs.

When I buy my computer I will be buying this cooler aswell so I can still use this comp without worrying about the cpu temps. I do have a aftermarket cooler on it but it's a quiet cooler with a small fan.

WTF I was sure I put this in the watercooling section. Sorry :s

Yes it's perfectly suitable for using on the non K and will perform well , perhaps a little overkill but if you wanted to you could use that. What cooler do you currently have on it?

I have a H60 on a i5 2500. The fan is down low so it's silent and rarely ramps up, even when the CPU is at full load - never got higher than 50 degrees.

Not overkill at all, and a lot tidier than having tower coolers.

Probably not overkill then I use an antec h20 620 AIO on my 2700k clocked @ 4.8ghz and it never goes over 70c gaming quiet as hell to boot!

well i do have an overclock as my cpu is bottlenecking my gpu, but i seem to be getting some high ish temps 58-64 regularly.

i have a silent tripple copper heatpipe with 1 90mm fan on it.

the oc is something like bclk (cant rember exaclty ) set to 103, AI suite can take it over 105 when i hit the extreme button but i think i need a watercooler for that as it does get pretty hot.

Running a H55 with 2x120 SP fans, nice and quiet, idles at @ ~20 and load @ ~50, goto love this cold weather.

You sure that's overclock not turbo-boost?

Yes, 100%. I have done it my self.

Its called limited unlocked

In this case we’re looking at a Core i5-2500, which runs at 3.3GHz by default. When a single core is active, the chip can turbo up to 3.7GHz. If you want, you can change that turbo state to go as high as 4.1GHz (if your CPU and cooling can keep up).

This was removed for Haswell/DC.

Come to think of it I think it's the bus that is changed.

I have Seen my cpu pass 4200 but like I said the temps where getting pretty high. Higher than the 64 I said above. The 64 is the OC I'm comfortable at. But obviously I want more lol that why I'm going to get the h55 or any other 120mm rad liquid cooler.

No, its not a good idea to overclock by the BCLK, this changes the speed of many of the other systems on the motherboard that dont like being overclocked.

I didn't overclock the bclk I just couldn't remember what it was.

I think it was the bus. It was set to 100 I have now set it to 103.

well i have installed the thing now. didnt go with ocuk because i wasnt fusse dwhen it arrived and tbh didnt need it asap for £10.

i installed it exactly how it wanted me to install it. it is at the back near the top as an intake.

was a bit paniced because i have never done anything close to the cpu before. got a finger print and a little scrape on the paste because i didnt remove the mobo from the case.

where i say my temps where rising to 65+ i have not seen them get close to 60 yet. infact i am not sure they have passed 55.

this has changed my pc brilliantly. the gpu is cooler aswell. im struggling to see how this has effected it though.

you should have seen the dust in my titan triple copper heatpipe cooler. no wonder it was getting hot, was always scared to touch that thing. and the paste was almost gone.

EDIT - i didnt get the h55 i got the h60
