blimey it scared the life out of me, the arm snapped, I went flying punched the desk in the process and have now a sore hand, the wife thought i'd collapsed lol

so im after a decent chair any recomendations i've hear the MARCUS from Ikea is pretty good ?

ta :D

Well as these threads go, a long while ago the IKEA Markus was always recommended.

Then the weekly trend started and the IKEA Marcus was mentioned thus more.
However lately, the IKEA Marcus is now a rubbish choice and the Herman should be your only avenue to explore in the quest for a comfy backside and posture.

DXRacer, sounds awful.

Friend of mine got the DXRacer Fnatic edition for christmas, looks awful but its comfy as hell

Their marketing point of "Imported PU" is amusing

Aahh, you had 1 those chairs where the arm fixes the back and base together. I hate those chairs. I've had 2 like that in the past which failed the same way, and 1 a few days after I bought it.

I would look at DXRacer or AKRacing here at OcUK.

I broke my old chair in a similar fashion, one arm broke because I was being exceptionally lazy and leaning out to pick something up off the floor, which then seriously weakened the rest of the chair so the other arm exploded soon after while I got carried away trying to steer a car in a game and me thinking leaning heavily might influence my on-screen driving prowess... I fixed mine quite simply using some 2cm wide 2mm thick steel bar I picked up at B&Q for a couple of quid.

Bolt A to B using the steel bar, 'A' being the backrest mounting hole and B being the furthest away seat mounting hole, this made my very comfy old seat extremely strong once again (Much stronger than it used to be..) repeat on the other side. At the pivot/join point 'x' I just re-bolted the seat back together using slightly larger and longer bolts and nuts, the mounting at 'o' is made redundant. When you put it back together like this the broken plastic arms will just line up as normal.
