Judge orders father to take his children to church

Well, it's not particularly christian, and I think that most people would rather be at home instead of listening to a priest drone on about how someone magically appeared in a womb and then turned into a zombie!

This. My initial thought was anger at a child being forced to go to church but then I thought about it more and there would almost certainly have been a reason for it.

the child didn't request it and has expressed no belief according to the article, the mother doesn't have to take them and she didn't even request it.

Seriously?
Why ruin a christian festival with Christianity?
Nip over to saudi, they don't do the mass thing much, see how much fun Christmas is there.

It's hardly just a Christan festival/holiday these days... plenty of people buy gifts/have a traditional meal with family just out of tradition and without all the Church nonsense. Was a Pagan festival originally anyway.

Most kids would rather open their presents etc.. than get dragged along to church on Christmas morning. I'm not sure that forcing kids to go and attend an institution that has employed a disproportionate number of paedos and covered up for them in the past really adds anything.

its been around way longer than Christianity, and lets face it Christ plays practically no part of it any more.

Christmas tress, relation to Christ?

decorations?

candy canes, and fairy lights?

santa clause?

there really aint much religious about it any more.

How one woman's lie about infidelity spawned a religion....

Then again Joseph was an old man, Mary a teenager... rather likely she was going to do what teenagers do... she must have been a bit surprised when a whole bunch if people fell for such a ridiculous story. 'I didn't have sex with anyone, honest... a magic angel came down and told me I'm having God's baby'

I guess when the alternative is a stoning then it was worth a shot.

The philosopher David Hume asked the question : ' What is more probable ? The entire natural order was suspended or that a Jewish minx told a lie ?'

There has to be an answer to this type of question and the simplest answer is usually the correct one.

Does seem rather bizarre, especially as it seems it wasn't even part of his ex wife's settlement demands. I don't understand how any judge or law can demand anyone partake of a religious ceremony. I am a catholic but would be hugely miffed if I was legally forced into participating in mass.
Stopped going to mass years ago myself, bad enough having to listen to priests and nuns at school all week, nevermind a Sunday morning.
