Will UKIP win its first seat in parliament tonight?

And the minority of extreme left wingers are very vocal, i'm reminded about the saying about empty vessels

There aren't many and they have been very quiet recently.

Of course you are likely mistaking central-right voters like myself to be be left because I happen to be more liberal than Hitler!

It seems UKIP are much more like a bunch of independents with the loose thread of Farage trying to steer them in the same way.

If they mature a bit, get a bit of real parliment presence this year, maybe in 12 or so years they might be interesting.

They need to wind in their mentalists and bell end loud mouths a bit harder, but i guess beggars cant be choosers, elections aint cheap!

Another loon hard at it .....

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/jan/21/benefit-claimants-cars-buses-ukip-leaflet

UKIP councillor and UKIP candidate wants to ban benefit claimants from driving to ease congestion, no need to act surprised given Mr Farage recently blamed immigrants for his tardiness

In addition to forcing cyclists to use the pavement....lol.

As Efour said they seem at a bit of a loss at the moment, their recent popularity and success perhaps coming a little too fast. Maybe given time they will mature; I hope not.

To be fair I personally think any roads above 30mph should be cyclist free(ie on the pavement).

Just wondering why do you hope they don't mature? Surely stamping out this crap and getting with the program they may actually be a 'credible' party.

I think you could equally apply that sentiment to extreme left and right wingers - almost as if they're making up for the deficiencies of their policies with an increase in volume.

Although I suspect there will be some disagreement about what constitutes extreme left or right wing.

I don't know if this is platypus's issue but a 'credible' party (does that just mean one that doesn't make a faux pas with suggested ideas on a regular basis?) with a raison d'etre that you don't agree with could be worse than one which shoots itself in the foot often enough to keep it from being in with a significant chance of power. Although this is a general musing rather than specifically about UKIP.

That's a fair point. Personally I would be worried if ukip became credible just for the reason you state. However even though I would not vote for them I would not wish for them to be stifled just because I find their policies distasteful.

To be fair for them to become 'credible' they would end up being around the same political swing as conservatives anyway in which case what use are they.

I agree to a certain extent, but there should ideally be a cycle lane (that isn't full of crap, and used as a parking spot), the pavement usually isn't safe, but lets not get the thread onto that discussion..

Pretty much this. I think they're dangerous and their core policy not in our best interest, and at the moment they regularly shoot themselves in the foot. I'd much rather that, than they gain a standing in British politics (no matter how bad the current state of affairs is - and I do agree that it is!).

*lol* you're not doing very well today aren't you?

Obvious flawed poll results are obvious.

Indeed, I'd plumb for the odd weighting side of it since they've managed to find an extra 10% from somewhere compared to the other polls out there at the minute who all seem to be within 2-3% of each other.

Yeah, the results are skewed. Probably to provide more hits to their website or whatever...

This is what I find most amusing, the fact they label anybody who disagrees with them as some fanatical loony-left type.

In reality they are disliked by people across the whole political spectrum.
