Just got myself a brand new crucial m4 128gb ssd to go along side my current ssd and want to transfer COD:AW and BF4 to the m4 from the 2TB HDD...

PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME I HAVE TO UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL THE GAMES ONTO THE SSD?????

Can I not just copy over the folders.

I think you may struggle with bf4 as it uses origin, I know steam games can be put into different "librarys" on your drives and just drag / dropped over.

ah ok then... luckily i run 150mb net so downloading them again via steam/origin shouldnt take too long, but i dont want it to be a pain in the ass

For bf4 under origin you can, make sure the download location in origin is that of the new drive you want to move it to first. Start to download bf4 onto the new drive, let it run to about 1%. Pause the download and totally exit origin. Navigate to where bf4 is currently installed, copy the folder and paste it into the newly created origin games folder on your new drive. Then load up origin again and it will see the files in the drive, recognise them and install in a few minutes. Once complete, just to be sure right click on the bf4 icon and run repair install, and check for updates.

Ive done this loads of times and have origin games spread across two hdd's.

AH, thanks for that information.

Don't play BF4 often, but the load times are crappy lol

COD:AW is what I am currently playing... hopefully see a performance increase having it on a ssd instead of a hdd

I have bf4 on a 250gb samsung 840 ssd, in general it seems a bit slower to load than bf3 does on the same drive. Still much better than a mechanical drive.

Never really noticed much difference in loading times between an ssd and hdd, but then I don't do multi-player games.

what I tend to do is create a steam library on my SSD for games played most often then have another library on my HDD for all others

What's the best plan for the Steam folder when doing a HD format and fresh install? Can I just simply drag it from the SSD to the HDD storage drive and then drag it back after the format/install?

Just download a program called steam mover. that way you can swap and change the games on your ssd hassle free
