Whiplash

Has anyone else seen this film ?? What are your thoughts?

I personally think its one of the worst films I've ever seen.

I don't understand the ratings.

I understand the premise of the film:
sacrifice everything for your passion
but frankly i didn't care one iota.

Obviously i am not the target audience for this film but i saw it with 180 other people none of them seemed to be either!?

Who the hell is meant to enjoy this ? :P (troll bait!)

Read the blurb. It sounds like every single coming of age sports drama / dance troupe film released by Hollywood since the 90s. Only with drums.

Step up to the Toms! 2.

So its been nominated for some 5 oscars....

Anyone else seen it yet? Have any thoughts.

Hoping to see it tomorrow night, supposedly performances are superb, sounds adrenaline filled. Can't wait. Oh and the Oscars are ridiculous, so I wouldn't use those as a guide!

In my opinion it's a great film definitely worth a watch especially if you've got a lot of passion for a subject (not necessarily music) then many aspects of this film are easy to relay too and the strive for success at different levels.

It's really well acted and the story line is really well paced, wasn't that predictable or boring very entertaining film wouldn't be surprised if it picked up 1 or 2 Oscars.

Apparently the slaps Teller gets from Simmons are real and when Teller splits his knuckles, that's all for real as well.

Not my usual cup of tea but as Simmons is in it, i'll watch it. He'll always be Schillinger to me though.

Very much this. It's in my top 3 movies of 2014. Great movie!

I really liked it. It kept ramping up and ramping up all the way through. Of the movies up for it in award season this one is right up there in my top 3 for most memorable performances.

My 14 year old Nephew is already being head hunted for different music colleges for his drumming skillz and I hope this doesn't put him off.

Mediocre....karate kid with drums but not as good....predictable scripting.

The lost drum music book and the "I can remember it " bit....
