I was walking my daughter home from school today whilst pushing my one year old in his buggy. I was walking on the pavement when a car came up behind me too close and hit my arm. Thank god I make my daughter walk the other (non road) side of me and that the car didn't hit my son's buggy.

I was quite shocked, but there was a chap behind us who saw the whole thing. He was astute enough to recite the numberplate a few times, and made sure we were all ok. He gave me the number plate, his name and telephone number and an offer to act as an independent witness. What a great guy - so many other people would have just walked on by. A huge thank you to you matey.

The offending car driver has since had a few stern words from our boys in blue - I've since found out the car driver actually phoned the police to say they had hit someone. Shame they didn't stop at the scene though.

Big thanks to a man called Jez - good on you matey.

Why wouldn't you stop to check the person you hit? Some people...

yea, some people need a good kicking. I know a chap who was walking home from work on a country lane (no footpath but he was walking as tight to the ditch as possible) a car drove passed, clipped him and knocked him into the ditch breaking his elbow, the driver had to have been aware they'd hit him as it tore the wing mirror off!

Had that happen to me a couple years back a van pulled away without warning and either it or the trailer it was towing whacked me in the back. Hurt like hell didn't get the *******s number though. Back ached for days afterwards. I guess I'm lucky it was only pulling away and wasn't moving at speed.

You know that horrible feeling you get when something is going horribly wrong and you can't do anything to stop it? Like you hit a patch of ice and you lose control and the world seems to move in slow motion.
