AAAAAAAAAAAARRGH!!! *bangs head off table*

Was playing with my eyes half on the telly. Flew into a station without requesting docking! I panicked and tried to fly out, but banged into the side wall and got stuck! I got out the dock, but it was too late and the station blew me away before I could get clear.

700K credits and half a load of rare goods down the toilet :(

yeah it is, I think they should just give you a hefty fine to be honest, maybe anarchy stations could kill you if you forget (because it's anarchy) but in general I think it is a bit over the top...

I did that in an imperial clipper with about 5M worth of palladium, I got out with 1 second left... I found the trick is to try and stay ice cool, the moment you panic - it all goes south, I've managed to get out a few times... but i've had my equal share of trying to boost through the slot without paying attention to the approaching type-9,

Give it a break for the night, come back fresh tomorrow :)

Yer, I did all that prior to selling and trading. Seems very steep to lose that amount? I had 60 mill in assets before selling and after buying my ship back, I had 53 mil in assets. I am a little deflated, as it took me forever getting to that amount :(

You lose 10% the value of the ship and all it's modules when you trade in against another, so the best way is to sell ALL your modules, and downgrade every possible one, to the smallest E variant (cheapest) that way you'll get cost price back on everything, and you'll lose the least amount of money, because you're trading a bare hull for a new ship.

Before i knew this, I traded a 10M ASP in with all it's modules, and wondered why I lost like 1Mcr or something..

Eh, I'm already over it to be honest. At least I had plenty of credits left to buy back my ship. Just annoyed at myself for making such a stupid mistake. I'd have probably managed to get out again, but my stupid booster wouldn't engage after I hit the wall, dunno if I damaged it or what.

Oh well. Life goes on!

How's the exploration mechanic, can you make your way in the game just exploring? That's the gameplay I'm after, logging on with a couple of mates when we're all online and heading off into the black together....

Last time I played the missions weren't even working :)

It would have been better had my math been better. I did a quick work out in my head and thought I would have around 6 mill to use after buying a few cargo holds and would have enough to buy a semi decent FSD and some stock. It could have been worse I guess and I could have bought those and not had enough to cover the insurance :D

Break for today, on the beer all day tomorrow and all day sunday to get it back :D

Been hammering the conflict zone again in my Python, 150k earnt in combat bonds - still enjoying it, I find the best way to avoid collisions is not to have my sensors zoomed in so far, as it allows me to keep tabs on what's close to me,

Don't think I'm far off a dangerous combat rating now, I'm totally fed up with trading so i'm going to stick with combat until I actually need to trade, not going to bother grinding the trade rank, currently an entrepreneur, apparently you need around 1BNc for the elie trading rank lol

It's slow, to be honest.

I love exploring: it's my favourite in-game pastime, but I put a heck of a lot of work in today for about 300,000CR.

Folk who concentrate on trading would probably have got about 3 million for the same amount of effort.

I'm in it for the glory; not the grind.

I hear that on the trading. I was telling myself to go back and forth 6 times and then go and make a cuppa, but I would go back and forth once and go and make a cuppa :D

Maybe I need to just kit an Asp out to the max and have some fun.

I'm the opposite way round, once I hit a route that makes good money I physically can't stop, especially in something like a type-9 where the money is just rolling in 600-900k per stop, I kept looking at my total assets and saying "right, i'll stop at the next 10Mcr mark" then going for another 20M, then before I realise it 6-7 hours have elapsed..

I will say though, that if you're going for a Python, get the absolute most money you possibly can, mine's worth 198M - that's fully A rated, except for the power plant with is B7 (an A7 power plant is 51Mcr) and I opted for military grade composite bulkheads at 51Mcr,.

Exploring is probably at the bottom of my list of things to do. I want to focus on trading at least till I get the last upgrades for my Asp, then I think I'm gonna try combat for a while. I'll get around to exploring eventually.

Right. I almost got myself killed AGAIN with the exact same mistake. Thank god I was able to reverse back out of the station this time. Only got slapped with a 400 credit fine.

Time for bed I think. Playing while sleepy = expensive **** ups!

I agree I reckon that the star-port reaction to infractions should vary on status.

Allies should get a small - 100cr fine
Friendlies - 1000cr fine
Neutral - 5000cr fine
enemies should get the lethal response

Same with lingering offences.

I got lasered to death when I forgot to ask Cauani for permission - I was a bright green ally at the time as well.

Agreed.

Had my first death in my Clipper tonight because I either didn't ask for docking permission or didn't notice it had been rejected (honestly don't remember which) and got lasered to death after getting stuck in the toast rack when trying to reverse out. 1.3M insurance claim plus close to 2M in gold gone.

All by a station which welcomes me as an ally.

Only upside I can take from it is that I learn something from every death, and from this death I learned not to play Elite when my mind is preoccupied with real life problems because it will punish you for even a small lapse of concentration.

I think at the very least they could give us a little longer to get back out of the station again. 30 seconds isn't a long time when you have to turn around and fly back out, especially when you have to correct your angle and thrust. I think a minute would be more manageable.

Also agreed,

I know of another guy who'd ranked up so high with one of the factions that he was considered a "station owner" I think, it didn't stop the station blowing him up when forgetting to request docking permission lol..
