What are you guys using for control?. A few people have put me off Saitek X52/X55 Pro Flight Control System as it has build quality issues.:( Was told The CH Products are far far superior. But its killing me as the X52 or X55 just looked the part and had a twist stick and throttle.

Ch fighter joystick and Pro Throttle look a lot duller and a bit more money. But if they last it may be worth it.

I’m actually not needing the control System till I get my new rig to play Elite etc end of the year when I order off here with Win10. Is anything else in the works?

Thrustmaster HOTAS X great stick for the price.

Recently got one of these after my old saitek stick died and I was very surprised with the decent quality. Think I paid about 45€ so was expecting something cheap and tacky but it actually feels very solid and is a lot larger than I imagined.

yeah the hotas-x is awesome and a real bargain... when elite was first released in Dec, it cleaned out the entire UK stock, people were selling them on ebay for £100+ lol

I use a really old X52 (not pro) and its great even better after a couple of really simple mods and i mean silly simple.

Extra magnets (you can get them off the bay for about £1.50
Couple of split washers or old CD to liven the spring up.

The software i found does not work well with windows 7 and my stick so i just use the windows drivers and its perfect.

Cheers for your thoughts. With the X52pro they are out of stock and making more and that’s a worry if the problems have been with the newer x55. If they fire them out quick to get on the back of Elite sales etc the quality could be shocking. It’s a shame I’ve had a few things and you think wow if that bit had been metal and cost the manufacturer another 30p it would have lasted or not broke.

I’m going to look back to the 52 Pro as the CH flight stick and throttle are over £100 each. I take it the X52 has a few years warranty? I know Madcatz make the stick I just hope they realise they need to make these things last and it will return in sales on the back of good reviews. I’d love to see the reviews for the CH stuff for the X52 but sadly its not the case.

Hotas X looks good value and even reviewers saying they swapped to this after their X52 gave up the ghosts. Mind you one guy did say his X52 although now had a dead zone on an axis had worked fine for a few years.

But to me I wanted to push the boat out a bit. I know if I got this I’d be thinking I bet the X52 is that wee bit better. Even that £300 Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick...has reported friction (STICTION) or something that happens and does not twist so would need pedals and even buttons have broke early on.

I’d just love a X52 Pro with the build quality of the Ch sticks.

I bought an x55 around a month ago and have had no problems whatsoever. Had a Hotas-X before that and can say that they are the best quality vs price product I have bought in years! I just wanted more buttons, lots more buttons lol

That's the main weakness of the HOTAS X. But Voice Attack overcomes that, and it just feels so right to be able to give voice commands to your ship in Elite.

Yea, you can also set a key to act as a shift button which in effect gives you double the amount. I couldn't get away with voice attack as I sit in the same room as my wife and it would be annoying lol.

I used the Thrustmaster T.16000M Joystick and my diy control panel with thrustmaster mfd cougar.

The T.16000M buttons are not great but the stick is really good.
