Can anyone tell me why when i plug into the port nothing happens at all? Its as if its not powered

We tried a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter, Works fine in my friends Yarris and flashes even when the car is switched off, When in this car nothing happens, No light no nothing even when the car is on

Wrong Bluetooth standard??

A Bluetooth obd adapter isn't going to do anything for your airbag fault anyway.

No this was just to check the RPM as the car has no Tachometer, I've got a cable ordered for the Airbag light

ODB2 covers numerous different communication protocols, ISO9141, KWP2000, CAN, J1850 PWM, J1850 VPW etc. Not all code readers support all these protocols.

Check the fuse for the OBD port too.

Is that a mk2 punto? If it is download multiecuscan (free) You can connect to airbag ecu with the obd2 port. leads are dirt cheap on ebay or you can swap wires in the plug to suit. It can also connect the abs one.

Pin 16 should be 12v if not, check fuse as above.
Pins 4 and 5 should be earth. (the two middle ones on the wider row) check continuity with ohms meter for those two.

Engine data should be on the K line - pin 7
Airbag data should be on pin 3

i've brought the cables that have all the pins pre sorted so i wont have to modify any of them

I've become slightly confused from what ive been reading on some forums relating to this car, This car is the 2000 version which apparently isnt OBD2 because that was installed in 2001?

The standard wasn't set until 2001, id be pretty surprised if you couldn't connect with an obd2 cable.
I had a 8v then 16v sporting (put a 1.4 16v in it haha) Hence knowing what car it was from the fusebox lol. I used to use puntomk2.com They will help you out with anything you need.

PS. I never heard of anyone not being able to connect on a mk2.
