****Official Project CARS thread****

Sounds like a must buy for me. Graphics and sounds are rather good.

Car list seems like a set that would make for some really good online racing and hopefully enough cars - even if at a later date - to have a version of the WEC within the career mode.

And today's build just released via steam now has a working fuel gauge in the hud for cockpit view, so now it's easier to work out how much fuel left after talking about fuel and pits etc...

as I said, each day the game is getting new stuff, its getting closer and the menus are looking more and more complete as each update passes by...

even got a wicked intro now when game is started, sends a cbil down my arms each time I watch it. so good, really gets you on the mood for some racing...

Do you think the pc version is a good base for the ps4 edition? March is not that far away, can new features you're seeing on pc version be expected to be on console version? Or do you think the console version will receive regular updates just as on pc which could leave it very different to the game on the disc?

Hopefully we'll be able to have private lobbies, which would be great for some OCUK racing leagues.

Considering the sim nature of the game and the tards you get online in most games I think they would be missing a massive trick to not include private lobbies. The vast majority of my enjoyment of racing PC sims has been organised leagues and events.

Just need a decent wheel for the PS4 then all will be right with the world as I am not sure it will feel right using a controller for a game like this.

Yea I'd be interested in some racing with people who genuinely want to race and not just hit each other!

Also worried about how I'll fair with the controller - had a logitech wheel with the ps3, but obviously can't use that now

Well I'm hoping to get the ps4 version as I expect this will be where I will want to spend most my time , as I'm not a huge pc gamer anymore. I got early access to project cars back in 2012, and remember the days of racing around seeing cars with no textures, or parts of the cars disappearing which was always funny and reminded me how early into the build this game was...

but I've always assumed what I see in the pc build is what the ps4 version will get. apart from online, I think it's 16 cars online for consoles but pc is a lot more.. but I csnt be sure on this...

I also know the pc build will have greater support for wheels, but there will be apps for telemetry and such, but again not sure how much of this will work on consoles..

so, in a nut shell, I hope what I'm playing on pc is fairly representative of the console counterparts..

I'll look on the developers forum and see what the plans are for lobbies, I'll also check later on my build as online is working and accessible... I would think private lobbies are included, I'd not want to play this game online with general public...

I'm all for private lobbies... Man I hope this turns out to be everything I wanted from a GT game and so much more lol.

My T500 RS wheel has been gathering dust for months lol.

I spent some time over the weekend with project cars, played many circuits and car variations, I feel it's not got the content of any PlayStation gt game, but it's nicely polished however you will respect the power each car has, poor throttle control and you will be pointing towards the wrong direction very quickly....

I hope the game delivers, I enjoyed firing a McLaren p1 around Silverstone , it was solid had enjoyable but what I think is good others might not and find the game boring or not challenging or even too challenging etc...

but my views are it's shaping up quite well.

I'm more interested in gameplay and authenticity. I don't need or want multiple number of Skylines and Evos lol

Fired this up for the first time since becoming a junior member way back when....

I LOVE IT.

Go Karts with 37 other AI drivers around Donnington, felt great, even with a pad.

Dare I say it reminds me of the original TOCA BTCC games from many moons ago, a sim/arcade hybrid if you will?

Yeah game has come along nicely....

the ai is superb, as I have been saying. it'll be a shame if the game doesn't make its mark as the developers have put so much into it.... over in the wmd forums for pcars a lot of testing and feedback going on regarding game pad, the control with game pad is getting better, but dead zone needs to be made better..

but graphically very impressive and superb track selections... from its early days to now, the game has changed massively... got high hopes for it as I keep saying

Ah that series was awesome, Going to preorder this now!

(I posted this in Consoles in error, was intended for PC but the sentiment still stands).

I love the idea of hardcore "sim" racing, I love being at the mercy of real world physics, tyre marbling, dry racing lines, laser scanned tracks etc etc.

The problem for me, is that this does not always lend well to a "gaming" experience.

Also, most of these experiences only "work" with a wheel/pedal setup and personally, even though I have wheel stand pro for my G25, it is still a chore to set it up and even when setup, there is compromise on the seating, pedal position etc as you can only really get that right if you have a dedicated racing chassis.

So, you are ready to race your uber realistic sim racing "game" with your compromised seating position, fancy stand and lets be honest, even spending £200+ gets you a bottom of the pile wheel/pedals combo for those who are serious.

You then find out that after all that, it just does not feel "right".

Sometimes I just want to run a pickup race, with a gamepad (Yes sim fans, a gamepad "shock horror").

The problem here is that only a few of these titles can be played with a gamepad.

Sure, there are MANY titles which fully support gamepads but they insult our intelligence with their stupid handling and physics.

What is wrong with wanting to use a gamepad yet not be insulted with a diluted racing experience.

Project Cars on a personal level is a raucous Sim/Arcade hybrid and gets the basics right (from the pre-release I have played thus far) yet has depth missing from the majority of titles, and yes, can be played VERY well with a gamepad which is not surprising seeing as the PC release is being shared with consoles.

Another point I would like to touch on is mods.

I love the openness of the PC platform although games which allow modding are not always the better off for it.

I have no objection to paying for a game and having a good selection of cars and tracks to master with no wiff of modding if the stock content is upto standard.

Will I miss a potential library of thousands of mods of which I will try to download all and play for 3 laps and go "nice" then not touch again. Sure, you will get the odd "killer" mod but with enough stock content, is this really a problem? Not for me.

Project Cars, I salute you. You may well be able to fill a space in my gaming heart which has been empty for a LONG time.
