Just how nutty are the Green party?

Apparently they want to remove all immigration controls. These people are literally insane, and the mainstream media need to expose them before the General Election.

The more media attention you give to a nutty party, the more popular they become. Just look at UKIP.

Have they got one yet? Last I heard even their leader thought the last one was rubbish.

I already posted a raft of policies a while back, if most of you are totally rubbish at googling then i can't help you

They had a 3 day conference a few months ago and all the videos are on Youtube.

You know what, **** it, here's what they have for the terminally helpless

Agricultural Policies

Transport Policies

Energy Policies

International Trade

Small Buisnesses Policies

Employment Policies

Education Policies

Defence Policy

Welfare Policies

NHS

And of course, Immigration Policies

Which items in the UKIP manifesto do you consider to be insane?

Leaving the ECHR, legalising handguns, moving to a US-style health insurance model, repealing the ban on smoking in pubs, barring HIV positive people from visiting the UK, reduction/removal of maternity leave, every policy based on their view that climate change is a hoax... Take your pick.

Leaving the ECHR

We need to tear-up the euro one and make our own, it's been abused beyond belief for far too long

legalising handguns,
One of the few i disagree with, so i'll give you that one

moving to a US-style health insurance model
Out of date and dropped, not a policy anymore

repealing the ban on smoking in pubs
non-issue to most people, we coped with smoking in pubs for hundreds of years

barring HIV positive people from visiting the UK,
Not quite right, it's banning HIV positive people from outside the UK from using our NHS, i don't have a problem with this.

reduction/removal of maternity leave
a woman disappearing for a year (happened for two so far in my office) from work and expecting to return to her job as if nothing happened is taking the **** to be frank. Should be capped to 6 months.

every policy based on their view that climate change is a hoax
it's been horribly exaggerated to squeeze more money from the general public, all out energy costs have gone up and all it's doing is lining the pockets of the big corporations

The ECHR in Strasbourg rules against the UK government about 11 times a year. That suggests that it isn't abused beyond belief. The vast, vast majority of cases are dealt with in the UK under local law.

I get the feeling it wll be just tear up the human rights bill and not implement a replacement....I mean, who wants those damn pesky human rights :p

Since smokers are a minority, and I know plenty of smokers who agree with the ban in pubs/restaurants, I think you are wrong there. It's much much nicer to enter these establishments without them stinking of stale smoke.

Yea, god damn those women wanting to start a family and wanting to ween their newborns! Hell theres work to do, get back to it chop chop! (And only 9 months of those would be statutarily paid, and most (if not all) of it can be reclaimed.)

What a shame we have a whole thread where the majority of posts are naming the Green Party as nutty and arguing over economics whilst only a few have actually addressed really important issues that may also impact on us all at some point eg the right to die. Just goes to show how shallow and self-centred peoples' priorities actually are. Give a stuff about money for things they may want but never need - sure - give a stuff about intrinsic basic human rights and suffering - nope.

I've yet to hear her discuss any actual environmental or "green" issues at all, the only time I've heard her talk at length she was spouting endless marxist rhetoric which seems to interest her much more. As for the Page 3 nonsense she seems to want to want to support any kind of weird left wing political agenda and her Green agenda seems little more than than a fig leaf.

As to what her party has done to the town here and the roads and traffic in general don't even get me started, Brighton was recently outed as having one of the highest levels of pollution recently hardly surprising with the amount of time you spend sitting in traffic jams due to dumb traffic measures that have reduced everything to 20 mph limits and funneling everything into single lanes and a forest of traffic lights. Parking charges are some of the highest in the country and everywhere except the 'burbs.

brighton is a nightmare now, thanks greens. piles of rubbish everywhere, very green. made every road user's journeys a missery and then rob you of any remianing funds while parking. even the permit parking is a mess.

if they can make that much of a hash of brighton just imagine what could happen given full or even partial control of the whole country. NEVER voting green ever!

That's just scaremongering of the highest degree

To be frank it's a non-issue to me because i don't smoke...or go to the pub

They are free to pump out as many sprogs as they want and stay at home as long as they want but i think the keeping the job for an entire year is a **** taker. If they want that kind of stay at home time they leave the job and when they're ready to go to work again then find another job. As i say maternity has become ridiculous and has caused employers to think twice about hiring young women into important roles

I agree with lots of their policies, such as this one, their rulings on cannabis, most fo their food and agriculture stuff, and others, but a functioning economy is a basic right by itself, border controls and a able and equiped defence force are a must - the Green policies would, in their current form, destroy these things, and thus I find it impossible to do anything but condem them.

Well considering the Tories can't manage border controls, defense and the economy and the latter part of the Labour administration they were the same I don't think that calls for them to be labelled "nutty". It was more an observation on what peoples' priorities are than a defense of the Green Party who I wouldn't vote for anyway. I just think it speaks volumes about people and what they really care about ... more concerned with what they want than what they need.

Britain will leave NATO, end the special relationship with the US, and unilaterally abandon nuclear weapons. A standing army, navy and airforce is “unnecessary”. Bases will be turned into nature reserves and the arms industry “converted” to producing windturbines.

lol

I think there is a good chance they will lose Brighton Pavilion. Anyone who I know who voted Green at the last election (quite a few) is saying "never again"

All the parties have some terrible policies, and some also have some decent ones, you just have to hope if they get any sort of power their decent ones will be achievable and the more'extreme' won't become anything.
