US: The Mentalist

Right, so I have watched all episodes and completely up-to-date.
I was disappointed in who RJ was. I was expecting a brainiac, but instead we got someone who wasnt that "great".

Anyway, they had to do a big reveal at some point, so that's all done.

I saw the Mexican (latest) episode just now, and it is a brilliant episode. Don't expect any murders or crime busting (though, there is a minor crime bust), but it does tell a good story.

Looks like he is going to work for the FBI.

Tbh they could have had Christopher Walken turn up as Red John and it would still have felt like a let down after building it up for 6 seasons.

I hope the show doesn't go the way of Unforgettable, i couldn't get into it when they changed it up completely. So far it was a good start to the 2 years on thing though.

Just watched the "Red John" season 6 episode... Argh mid season breaks. Grrrr. Yes, I know the next 2 episodes have been broadcasted in the US, but I want them now.

Just started watching this from the beginning now it's being repeated on Fox, really like it. Great characters and it manages to be equal parts light-hearted and serious.

Also started Psych which seems like a similar idea but from the first couple of episodes, it's not that great.

Post Red John Mentalist has improved significantly. Was really good for a couple years, started heading a bit downhill and was so Red John focused and also got a little ridiculous on the investigation front. Seems they realised it and finished up the Red John story as quickly as possible in season 6 and then somewhat rebooted it back to more realistic stories/investigations and bringing in some new characters and a new environment which all worked well for it.

Enjoying this season and the second half of last season and a bit of a shame we only get a season and a bit of the revamped show.

Psych is just silly, it can be funny but it's never, ever to be taken seriously. It's completely over the top and often stupid but there are some fantastic lines here and there in it.

Psych is like a SNL parody version of Mentalist :p

Yeah, I gave it a few more episodes and deleted the series link on it, didn't seem like my thing. Did wonder if that was just down to the earlier episodes but I caught a bit of one later in the series and it still seemed a bit dumb and dopey.

Still, really loving The Mentalist, although no sign of Fox re-showing season 2 yet. :(

"Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode" - d'oh

Loved this season but last night's finale episode was a bit of a drag. It really didn't need the whole catching one last serial killer thing for 1.5 hours and should have just been about Jane and Lisbon. If they hadn't already went with it for the opening episode of the season something along that lines would have been perfect.

Sad to see it go though because this season really improved over the last few.

It was a nice ending character situation wise but it was far far away from it's best investigative stories, even excluding Red John there were loads of brilliant stand alone episodes with great bad guys or good investigations, this was very poor by comparison.

6.5ish years of Red John story arc with some other arcs thrown in there, it was a shame they didn't do much for the final series and then the main story for the last 3 episodes was so so tame.
