AMD CEO Confirms Graphics Refresh Coming in Q2 2015 – Rx 300 Series

Carrizo.

It's a 35 Watt APU, also rumoured to be as fast as a 265/7850.

That's 512 Shaders, probably with HBM, as fast as a 7850 and 35 Watts.

Seems quite incredible, in this thread there is an apparently leaked 370 with equivalent specifications to a 7870, benchmarked as fast as a 290/X with a 150 Watt TDP.

Who knows...

Sounds really good, unfortunately the CPU side of things will probably still be next to useless for a decent gaming rig. But at least it is a step in the right direction.

more and more will be pushed onto the gfx cards in OS now tho, and more cores being used in games bcos dx12

i think whats important in a chip is going in the apu's favor

Laptop SoC form factor, Apparently Vendors are looking at releasing SoC Desktop boards, but yeah, regardless of what CPU improvements AMD may have or not its still going to be a small CPU and very much taking a back seat to the iGPU.

You look at the die of current APU's the 4 core CPU section is 1/3 of the die space, the rest taken up by the iGPU.

I bet AMD are very grateful for Nvidia's stumble with marketing over the 970.
A gift horse for sure while AMD has no hardware to respond to 970/980 with.

As long as AMD time their release and bring the performance the stage is set for AMD to sell a lot of cards.

Nvidia could turn this 970 marketing blunder to advantage though as offer some gesture to those that might be affected by the spec change on the 970. A simple offer or recognition could give Nvidia a positive spin on this situation. So far though Nvidia haven't commented to the customers only to the usual sites as much to focus on damage control.

Yer, typical luck for AMD and nothing new to sway buyers. Shame, as the GPU market is ready for a GPU from reading about and perfect opportuity for AMD to cut into some of nVidia's market share.

AMD will need to bring really good cards out to cut into Nvidia's market share, Nvidia are very dominant atm. ( 970 marketing blunder aside) The 970 / 980 are good cards not extortionately priced and give great performance. AMD need to step it up and offer a big jump imho for anyone to consider a switch.

Off topic, just been playing Dying light on GTX 980. This game is a beauty. Graphics / Sound / atmosphere are spot on. Not sure how it runs on Radeon but excellent on the 980. This is what having a good PC is about imho, decent games to run on it. Grey Goo and Dying Light should last me until Witcher 3, then Uncharted on PS4 after that. Some awesome games this year..

dying light is just bf4 with sticks

Uurrgh ? :D

I have no idea what this means lol.

Dying light really puts you into the world, you can see your characters legs / arms interaction with the world is more natural than other games I've played. The animations for climbing / movements are really good. The NPC's are really well animated as well. Lighting is superb as well.

The graphics and scope of the area are really impressive. This is the first 'next gen' feeling game I've played. Should get even more impressive over the next few years as X360 and PS3 will no longer be setting the bar for games, PS4 and Xbone allow for a better base which can now be scaled up for PC. All being x86 makes thing much simpler.

im only joking, i havent played it yet
i saw it on twitch and the joke was its like bf4 but with sticks
(axes and clubs)
:)

Sorry haven't had chance to read through all 12 pages. Will these AMD cards be lower power requirements like Nvidia 9 series? Not that Im massively energy conscious, but less electricity = less heat and all that.

Put Simply, no. they are 250 Watt GPU's.

Think I will keep hold of my 290 Tri-x for now and probably add a 2nd shortly and wait til AMD release something that's not only excellent performing but as power efficient as Nvidia cards. Yes it will probably be a long wait lol

Hopefully one day they will also bring out a cpu to compete with my 4770k as well

One of me spies has told me that a fairly reliable source has hinted that these next cards just might be water cooled in some form or other. ;)
