Really I'm not doing nightfall because I don't want another exotic to level :P Taking a bit of a break until HoW now, apart from a couple of Crota normal runs a week to get my hunter to 32, and the odd bounty to level up his gear.

Its a great perk, doesn't last that long on Omingul, but will help get it done quicker, as you have a a break from the constant wizard fire.
 
So decided to play this now, I've had it laying around for a bit but never given it a spin. How did you guys find starting the game, also I currently have 0 friends with Destiny, and I believe there is no match making built in.

Just communicate with people on here and LFG and you will get a list going.

Run through the campaign, concentrate on Bounties and a bit of Crucible action and you should hit 20 relatively soon.

Save Vanguard marks, acquired from strikes and bounties, to buy higher leveled gear from your Vanguard once you hit 20.

Pray for good drops.. reach 27 and start trying the nightfall with a group of 30/31/32s and pray for good drops.

Start raids from 27 also.. let people carry you until you can get decent armor drops to get you towards and past 30.

I found the start of the game pretty good, a lot of it can be done solo. Done most of the matchmaking through here. Are you on XOne or PS4?

When I first started I was a bit lost but on rolling two additional characters I can say the easiest way to get levelled up (and have access to all the planets) is run every story mission (with heroic modifier if you feel up for it) and complete every bounty can get your mits on (grey ones being PVE whilst red are PVP).

Gun style is completely subjective but I would suggest either running with a scout or Auto rifle from the beginning. The starting pulse rifle is awful (as are a lot of the pulse rifles to be fair).

All my characters (named of course :p) have been through it all but, I am more than happy to lend a hand. :)

Also strike playlists (start at level 18) have match making. Everything else outside of PVP does not (whether that is good or bad is down to personal preference).
 
Thanks for the advice guys :D. I'm on PSN so I will start adding some people tonight.

Also 1 last question, how does PVP work, does your light level effect the game play, just watching some videos at work and it seems like a lot of fun.

Mine was no better. 9 energy, a vanquisher vii I will never use and 9 more energy. I did get a Thunderlord from an engram but it was a duplicate so got sharded.

Did anyone notice a change in the number of strange coins dropped as a reward for the weekly? I did the weekly on my final character earlier and only got 3 strange coins, djcj was in the group and had the same.

You get 3 if you do the weekly on default setting. You get 9 at level 30. Are you sure you switched it to level 30?

Could be that simple, in which case it was a schoolboy error. I find it hard to believe that neither of us noticed this throughout the run though. Apologies for wasting 20 minutes of your time if that's the case djcj :p

Glitched if that is the case as I got 9 from each weekly I ran.

Still didnt get Gjallahorn from NF :mad: but did get a 331 legendary void lmg, not the best but nice to have a 331 replacement for corrective measure. Keeping VoG weapons, 331 replacements for VoG weapons, all the CE weapons and any others that are kept really push the vault to the limit. I really hope HoW sees an increas in vault space.
 
Me and a mate will be doing the weekly, and possible the nightfall, at about 20:45 tonight. Feel free to join us if you see me online. Always nice to have a third.
