While Radeon Rx 300 series still remain a mystery, first rumors about Radeon Rx 400 series already start to appear.

Radeon 300 series are codenamed Pirate Islands. For the past few years each generation is codenamed after distinct geographical area. We had Southern Islands, Sea Islands and Volcanic Islands. After Pirate Islands, the next generation of GPU architecture, Arctic Islands will follow.

We do not know if the Arctic Islands codename is correct, but if it is, then I hope there is more here than just marketing decision. Will Arctic Islands bring a new quality of cooling solutions to Radeon family? Well, in 2016 we will be expecting 16/14nm FinFet chips, much more power efficient that current 28nm silicons, so there’s still a lot to be done in this regard.

Hence the Arctic Islands :p

Well duh.

Good Grief, like, lets get the 300 Series rumours proven and dis-proven before we start on the next generation after that :o

It's only a name matey, I'm kind of relived that they are planning new cards after the upcoming new ones. What with all the financial issues etc lol. Planning ahead is a good sign.

I see Orangey is starting on 14nm now. Nobody talk about GPU die shrinks he gets very irritated :D

Yeh lets get some actual numbers for 3xx
Cool if its true but too far away for me to care too much, more interested in R3xx speculation

Financial issue are a bit over-blown, AMD's demise was predicted to have happened 4 years ago, the same people keep on the hyperbole rhetoric almost daily and will for the next 20 years.

There are Rumours of an AMD takeover by a Chinese company, there might be something in it as it's caused AMD's shares to spike a little.

AMD are an extremely viable company, they have an awesome IP portfolio and some real talent, if someone with the cash injects some into AMD Intel 'never mind Nvidia' could find themselves on the back-foot with-in a year or two.

i want someone like Samsung to take AMD under their wing.

Cmon Amd!! hurry it up! :( was looking forward to the 390x, but now I know that straight after they will be smashed in 2016, looks like im going to have to keep my 7950's even longer.

Put 'yer shirt back on HulkShock :D 2016 is predicted for the R9 400 series, the gen after the one coming, which is still happening.

Haha hulkshock :D

Aye, but I was hoping the 390's would be the big bang ones, and then another long wait till something better, but It looks like that's going to be next year for the ones that absolutely demolish everything.
