Car seems to have developed a problem unlocking the passenger door on the A3 this past month. (Just when I've been trying to get rid of it! :( )

Wont open with the double click key fob or the unlock button within the car. There's no 'click' when I stand next to the door. Everything else, including the boot opens fine.

Sometimes I can get it to open no problem, the error seems to be occurring 70% of the time but generally I need to wait until the next day to try again.

Any ideas? Sounds electrical to me but I've no idea where to begin. There's no apparent leaks or condensation inside the car and all other electrics are working fine.

Cheers

When I open the door from the inside (using the handle), it opens perfectly, without fault every time. Even when the fob doesn't work.

It's only the central locking that wont activate the release.

Yes but if you deadlock the car then the interior handle wont open the door. Dealocking a car is to prevent someone from smashing a window and unlocking from the inside.

If you press the lock button on the remote a second time within two seconds it will deactivate the deadlocks. Not quite as secure but might be safer until you get this sorted.

Eh?

Double pressing the lock button turns the deadlocks ON, not off.
