Are you a seat belt offender?

I don't even feel comfortable in a car without a seat belt, it makes me feel hugged

Edit: <insert forever alone jpg>

I didn't wear one as a child but as soon as I got behind the wheel in 1975 I wore one immediately and always have.
Last year I was traveling to a concert with my mate driving and his girlfriend (about 44 yrs old) in the passenger seat. Just outside Wolverhampton she jumped up, panicked and put on her seatbelt because she had seen a Police car further up the road but as soon as we went past she took it off again and then held onto it for the rest of the journey
I also have two mates who pull their seatbelt across and then put the end bit in between their legs.

Question though, if its cold and you have a coat on do you put the seat belt over the coat, or do you undo the coat and then place it over the belt?

Put the left half of my coat over the seat belt, it's like a snare if I don't and I want full mobility when driving.

I always wear a belt in the front unless it's the 15 seconds from ASDA carpark to ASDA's pumps. In the back of a car I don't wear a belt.

I plug mine in around the back of the seat to stop it beeping, had an accident as a passenger when I was younger and couldn't get out the car because of my seatbelt, always been weary of it happening again so I don't wear it anymore.

When I'm in my own car, I always wear one as it feels odd when I don't. I will also wear it when I'm driving in a job car (because it beeps if you don't) but I sometimes forget as a passenger as when you wear body armour it doesn't feel odd.

I always wear my seatbelt. As has been said a lot, it feels weird without it.

I really don't get people who sit on it, or who put in a seat buckle to stop it from beeping
I've seen a few in car ads, where the belt is totally knackered and flat on the seat :(

Even saw one where they buckled the front passenger belt into the driver's seat!

That's really, really stupid.

I presume you've never been caught?

How are they going to catch me?

At least you could get out of the car eventually rather than leaving in a body bag.

I don't wear mine, I will wear it when there's other people in the car to avoid the subject coming up but I find it very constrictive when I do - you should all try it for a day or two you'll feel much more alert.

Err, they pull up alongside, and glance over? It is very obvious if the belt is behind you.. But, please if you think you are too good for a seat belt, carry on, at least you have more chance of a Darwin award.

You are never going to be a passenger in my car, so what does it matter to you?

Being thrown out of the car is the obviously more desirable option.

The other seatbelt question is:
Have you ever needed a seatbelt?

I've been driving for 38 years, driven for 56 years and been lucky so far.
