Are you a seat belt offender?

On the question of have I ever needed one; yes I have.

It wasn't a crash, but I was driving and someone just walked to cross the road without even looking or hesitating. Had to do full on emergency stop. If I didn't have belt on, I would have been in the windscreen.

The guy was OK, but the most bizarre thing, the guy stopped in the road, gave me the most incredulous look as if to say I'm an idiot driver, then just carried on his way.

I plug mine in around the back of the seat to stop it beeping, had an accident as a passenger when I was younger and couldn't get out the car because of my seatbelt, always been weary of it happening again so I don't wear it anymore.

So what have you done about de activating the airbag as they are designed to work together and it will not end good if an airbag is deployed with no seatbelt to stop your bodies forward momentum.

Just seems pathetic to me that someone would go out of there way to plug it in to fool the police and the cars OBC, yet it would be much of the same effort to put it on correctly...

Was the seat belt faulty or something or was it because you was a small child and could not find the release button?

It's an automatic muscle memory thing for me.

I am aware that there are occasional freak accidents where the seatbelt can do more harm than good, but statistically it's far far safer to wear one.

I've had two crashes where I can safely say I would be dead are at least grossly mangled had I not been wearing it.

Always wear a seatbelt as either a driver or a passenger. Feels odd not to put it on.

I really don't understand why you wouldn't wear it. It takes 2 seconds to put on, and once on you can't even feel it.

Had you have been the passenger I could have understood your reasoning there, but as a driver you have that great big round thing in front of you to hang on to in an accident, so no, slamming on the brakes and not hitting anything wouldn't have seen you "in the windscreen at all".

On a side note I have T boned a car at well over 30mph (limit was 30) that pulled out of a side road, then looked, then stopped..
I bent that steering wheel back against the dashboard.
Come to think of it, I wasn't wearing my seatbelt then either. :o

Always wear mine, have a bad habit of putting it on as I exit my side road (always one hand on the wheel) but wouldn't dream of not wearing it at all.

Feels weird driving without a seatbelt, although I'll remove mine if I'm parking so I can look around.

You've misunderstood, it's not uncomfortable wearing a seatbelt, but I prefer the feeling of being free in my seat.

You will have to explain that one because with my seatbelt on I can move around to get stuff off the backseat, lean over to the floor on the passenger side and a host of other movements.
Or do you get car jacked often and you need a quick getaway out of the car?
I really can't see what the problem is and you're making stuff up.
