TV shows for men

As someone working in media, shouldn't she have a clue what should roughly interest half of the population?!

Original ideas are the hardest to come by and are often generated by undertaking market research - as this thread could be interpreted as.

Shes a researcher and just looking for interesting ideas thats all :)

I write up pitch ideas for TV and corporate producers so if you need help send me a message via trust. :)

how about literal food porn - soft-focus, cheesy music and fades to close-ups of sizzling bacon and steaks on the griddle :p

Or for some real hardcore stuff

How do you think people get ideas for shows. They ask people questions on what they wanna or are interested in seeing, or alternativly get asked by a company to make a show about them presumably for some free advertising

Also who said it couldnt be about a minority or niche group?

Your original post where you said shows men like...not groups!
I think people get ideas by brain storming then asking sample groups if the ideas appeal to them. I don't think they get ideas by asking someone else theirs and passing them off as their own.
There's a word for that.

Worst "my girlfriend let me have the remote" thread ever.

Cars, Guns, Girls, Boobs, Guns, Cars and explosions!

lol yea whole thread seems like she's in the wrong line of work if she's been asked to come up with a show idea and instantly disappears to the internet forums.

what is this someones course work?

A modern version of Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers or Blackadder would be good. I don't mean a remake, just a comedy that's able to compete with the likes of those, something that is a bit tongue-in-cheek and doesn't worry too much about being politically correct. The Inbetweeners and Peep Show were good but they weren't quite up there, and there seems to be a complete lack of good comedies on at the moment.

A board member has asked for a few ideas and you guys want the UN to lynch him for weapons-grade plagiarism.

No. I just believe people should generate their own ideas and not rip off others.

As an author I imagine you'd be pretty peeved if someone ripped off something you'd proposed and rewrote it or used it elsewhere. Given that I've read several of your books as well as threads and have seen the referencing you do I would think you would be someone that disapproved of idea theft.

Anything that isn't filled with relationship garbage, which has unfortunately contaminated the sci-fi genre over the last decade or so.

The closest thing to relationship drama should be a little sexual tension between 2 of the characters, who never actually act on it, like the X Files.

It's called "Market Research" and it happens all the time.

No, in market research, as I've said, you normally propose a pre set group of ideas to selected demographics.

Could you tell me what you think of A. Would B interest you?

Not hey, as a man is there anything you have thought of that I can present to my bosses to gain credit for?

Asking for help with ideas and then receiving that help on a clear and voluntary basis from participants does not constitute plagiarism and, for all anyone knows, this thread or individuals herein could be cited at a later date.

I'm pretty sure that plagiarism is a crime under UK copyright law so go ahead and get in touch with your local constabulary as you appear to feel very strongly.

I don't believe you're naive enough to think should anyone in this thread come up with a brilliant idea they're going to get credit for it for one second.

The first post also specifically asks for ideas, not help coming up with them.
