Apple made $18bn in the first quarter alone! :o:eek:

For years people have been saying that apple will start to decline due to competition from Android but they keep on getting bigger and bigger! I wonder if in the coming years we will see them hit $100bn in 1 year profits?!

Crazy stuff.

Markets seem to get a boner with Apple numbers, I assume Apple caught on to this and are now just riding the wave to keep momentum going.

The Western market is no longer their target anyway.

One of the reasons I don't buy their products, their profit margins are ridiculously high for a company in their industry. Your paying a huge markup on the actual hardware cost of the device.

Fair play to them though.

Cant even imagine $18bn in normal human items... lol

Making tat in China and selling it back to the Chinese for x30 cost... superb

Well it seems they've finally reduced the cost of iCloud backups so I'm happy they're doing so well :). 79p for 20gb rather than the 10gb for £15 it was not so long ago.

Edit: oops Apparantly it's been like that since September. Only just realised when I had a notification informing me I hadn't backed up in 12 weeks :(.

I think the key stat is 40% profit on each product sold.

Most people know you can pick up an equivalent spec laptop or smart phone for I dunno, about 40% less than what apple devices retail for. :D

yet people keep buying them.

I couldn't ever buy in to Apple. As a company they seem completely devoid of a moral compass.

You can but the quality of an equivalent spec laptop is significantly worse than an Apple laptop. For one thing, the trackpad on PC laptops drives me insane, whereas the one on my MBP is lovely.

Granted, the quality of PC laptops is getting better and some of them are no longer big chunky plastic tonka toys but you have to pay a pretty penny for them and the price difference between those and Apple laptops is negligible.

Anyway, those profits are mental. I wonder how they compare to Microsoft's?

And they will pay single digit corporation tax in Ireland and Singapore.

They will avoid repatriating all that money into the US as they would have to make up the difference to ~30% corporation tax that exists in the US.

I wonder if the share price assumes they won't actually have to pay the normal rate.

Google does the same of course.

That's because an equivalent spec laptop is low end one :D.
