Do these have any sort of security, so if it's nicked can people access your files?

What is the reliability like on these? I am after a small 1tb HDD for extra backups but want to know it will work after not being used for ages on that rare moment I will need it and not whir up clunking and clicking

Integrated into the drive hardware or bundled with software? Not for £42 it doesn't.

If security is that big of an issue for you then use your own encryption solution. There are many available - BitLocker as a native windows solution or one of the many other tools out there.

Not at £ 42 they do. however may of the best free backup programs have options to encrypt the backups as well. Most paid for backup software also have encryption options.
