I am intrigued in seeing the design!

me too... TBH; I'm a philistine when it comes to most drippers and mech tube mods, to be 90% of them are the same, a tube with a cap and battery or in the case of a dripper; cylinder with holes with a top, bottom and a few posts.

I can understand that different grade material can produce different results and would like to think that I understand art and design... but some of the prices for them is crazy and my vape budget hands says no way is that worth the extra cost! Now if something comes out that's different or pretty; I may splash the cash but very few RDAs and tube mech mods 'do it' for me.

Having said that.. my next mech mod tube will either be The Jester or a MCR 101. :)

General design of the top cap aside, I'd be interested to see how you're tackling the deck;

  • 2 or 3 posts?
  • Will the negative post(s) be milled into it or seperate?
  • Will the positive post be seperate from the 510 or will it be one big post?
  • How will the wire holes be positioned (for vertical/horizontal coil builds)?
  • How will you handle the post from twisting with thicker gauge wire?
  • Will the 510 be adjustable?
  • What insulator will you be using?
  • Deep or shallow juice well?

So many questions :)

Hehe :p soon :)

General dimentions, height 30-35mm inc top cap etc all together, not inc drip tip

6 post design, 3 positive 3 negative,

coil pins so you can wrap your coil around them perfectly for the design of the dripper so that the air flow when the coils are aligned perfectly, the air wraps all the way around the coil before being drawn upwards.

because of the posts, (well it would work with just two posts you know, but 6 is my idea)
because of how they are positioned, you could just fill the whole thing with chimney coils, don't know why anyone would wana do that but its possible
all coil builds are possible, anything is possible with the idea I have

The posts wont be able to move as they will be solid in place the way I have designed the shape of it, it will be a square block wrapped in a insulator, also you could use up to 2mm thick wire through the posts.

8mm juice well nice and deep.

cant really tell you much more without letting my ideas slip :p also, looking at the designs now, im getting a bit carried away, im going to see if its possible to do cheap first, then ill get down and draw the designs properly then ill reveal it :p if I cant manage to make it my self or cheaply, then ill just show the designs to someone who can or try sell it to them haha.

Me too, I only have an Ego-W and a Origen V2 and they are both meh. I like a cooler vape so I struggle to get a decent dripper. I much prefer single coils so far, but I do like the vapour poduction from two... but with the warmer vapes I find flavour diminshes, just feels like im incinerating my throat.

Infact when I am home tonight I might post a picture of my collection so far :)

Just spent the last half an hour fighting with a tank that wont come apart in the right place! The pliers and nut crackers was useless.. screwed it on to mod and it came apart like butter! That's Vape Life!

My Smok Xpro M50 arrived today, It's nice, Very nice.

My atlantis is like a whole new beast even when running the same watts as my mech, Lots more vapour and flavour and seems a lot smoother too, So glad I got one now.

Battery fit is ok for me, It's not overly tight like reviews say and doesn't rattle. It seems very solid and it's not too heavy or too light. It fits in my hand nicely and having a side button instead of pressing the bottom of a mech is much better, I started with a Aspire CF/VV so was used to the side button already.

I'm using a Brillpower 2500mah 35A battery and it hasn't even lasted 1/2 a day at 30w where as my mech would last all day. Charging is made easier by the usb port though compared to my old wall charger and I can do it on the go in the car which is a massive bonus.

I've used a whole tank of liquid aswell in the short life span of the battery, This is 80vg/20pg so it will go through thinner stuff like no tomorrow.

Mine came too. Literally had it for a couple of hours, initial thoughts:

Battery changing IS a bit of a pain - but I don't care. If you want to swap batteries day in day out don't get it - it will definitely annoy you. If you want to charge by USB like an iStick or similar but have the option to change the battery when it's worn out, then fine. I want this and was aware of the issue, and just don't really care. It's a bit of a shonky design though.

The button is a total joke and Smok know it! They give you a spare button that's different - because they know the standard one is going to fall off. Poor show! Either fix the standard button or ship them with the rubber one. My normal button was halfway to falling out after about ten minutes so I swapped it. This wouldn't be an issue if they just fitted the rubber one before shipping it. The plastic one feels nicer so I'd have preferred it if they just made the tabs on it longer. May open up the mod and see if I can fix it at some point - but shouldn't have to. Again, poor show.

Centre pin - spring loaded and nice - but maybe could be deeper. I have a Stillare clone which to be fair does have an unusually long 510 but it doesn't fit flush. Everything else does so far. Minor issue (and it is a pretty long 510 on the stillare)

Passthrough - DOES work in 65w version. Tip top.

Power - Well I've only had a 30w Hana clone (cloupor) to compare it to. 30w seems similar on both, and it goes up past that - not having another device with the same output, I can't really comment but it definitely heats up a lot of wire quick with twisted dual builds and similar. It's plenty for me but I can't confirm or deny the accuracy of the wattage past 30w, and that's only in comparison to a Hana clone. If I hadn't heard mixed reviews regarding power it wouldn't cross my mind that it might be down.

Size - awesome, feels great. Best thing about it probably. Only a bit bigger than an iStick really.

Menu etc - fine. Goes through watts quite quick once it gets going.

Mech mode - waste of time, won't ever use it. Totally pointless imo and doesn't seem to work properly according to reviews.

Build quality - shocking button aside it's really nice. Quite light, whether that's good or bad is subjective. Little bit top heavy with a Kayfun on top.

Overall for £38 delivered, I'm happy and I'm quite impressed. Main reason I got it was size/power/price ratio seemed really great and those aspects of it seem to stand up so I'm happy.

However and this is quite a big however, the price/power/size of it may attract a lot of people who might otherwise buy an iStick or similar, and if I was a new vaper and got this home, saw the sparks when I fitted the battery, then the button fell off, I would not be amused and I think those aspects are a pretty poor show. I was aware of the issues and had decided to give it a try so I'm not fussed but if I walked out of a shop and then got home to that I may well just turn around and take it back and I think Smok should really address that.

I just pulled the trigger on that 150W Smaug mod.

Seems to be a very nice mod, I got some new batteries as well for it, 4 flat top efest 18650's.

Once it's running I 'll post on how it's vaping, so far it looks good tho.

I also picked up the Kuro Concepts coil jigs. They seem simple enough. And certainly didn't break the bank. I'll mention them when I post back as well.

The mod is going to be getting an onslaught clone on top for the minute, Should be an interesting combination.

Jeebus, that's one hell of a drip tip :D

Seen them on fast tech but never seen someone use one, whats it like? lol.

my mutation x v2 drip tips huge but its nothing compaired to that beast lol

Speaking of drip tips, does anyone know what that short black drip tip is that rip trippers uses?

cheers

Just been charging my Smok m50 with a 5v 1A usb charger for about 3 hours and it hasn't charged at all despite the screen saying it's charging, will give it another go tomorrow but it's not looking good.

Very nice! I've got mine up and running now. And I must say it's a very smooth vape. I've not had it past 45W yet but that is because I've ran out of all kanthal bar some 30awg!

Onslaught set on 3 coils 0.8ohms total. The vape is good, Not overly hot, And a good cloud on a 2-3 second burst.

Once I get some 24 and 26 gauge kanthal I'll be able to say what the winders are like. The 30Awg is just a little too thin, It doesn't guide it properly on the No1 setting. The shop was showing me it on some 28Awg and the winder was working perfectly.

Once the sun comes up I'll get a picture taken if i get chance.

Glad to hear you guys are getting on ok with the Smok M50 (well, mostly).
I was very tempted by it at the price as £40 is pretty damn good, but that battery cover malarkey is the killer for me :( Otherwise...
Ended up grabbing another Sigelei 100W ('Plus' model this time) for the battery life and ease of access etc.

Did anyone else get in on the group buy for the istick 50W? Slightly old news, but eleaf got so backed up with orders that these won't be going out until mid-late Feb... Oh well, gonna have to make do until then :D

So excited! Finally got temperature control working on the Rdna 40 without the temperature protector kicking in and killing the vape.

It's a long video, but amazing what a good clean can do! I can hold on the button for as long as a need now!
