Google Earth Pro is now free

I didn't know that.
may years ago there was Keyhole which was subscription and Google bought it, called it Google Earth and gave it away for free.
Keyhole must have carried on with another project.

I just read the article and have no idea what it was called before hand or after (apart from Google Earth obviously). Just thought i'd ask. ;)

Under Keyhole, the application was known as EarthViewer 3D.

Downloading now to see what are the differences/fuss is all about.

Saw this posted on Hot UK deals a couple of days ago. Is it worth getting just for the sake of it or would it be a useful tool?

That's where I just saw it and since it's free and I spend a lot of time looking at maps I installed it.
I haven't messed with it properly yet to see what advantages there are or if I need them.

Got an error on both my personal and work accounts.

I've been wanting ti play with Pro for a while but it's not something I can justify buying without having tried the extra features before purchase.

I got an error the first time..

I just clicked the browser back button and didn't change anything and it worked the second time. ;)

Didn't work again on different machines, even the to back and forwards "trick".

What did work was doing the registration on chrome. First time it worked... Seems like it may be another gimped Google website that only works properly on Google Chrome!
