** THE BEST GTX 980 DEALS IN UK & NVIDIA REFERENCE 980 IS BACK AT OcUK ONLY!! **

great deals...very tempted with the KFA2. I currently use a 2500k (stock speed). do you think that will bottleneck the graphics card at all? Must admit its been a while since I've been on top of things...I tend to only read up on CPUs etc at the time of buying. As far as I gather, the cpu raw speed hasn't gone up that much, but I'm sure the efficiency and actual performance per mhz has prob gone up since then

Any reason you haven't overclocked the 2500k? It's almost a crime!

Truthfully....at the time, when bought with my 570 I could max out just about everything, so had no need :)

I generally stop/start on gaming, but getting back into it again, especially now I have my rift. Now that I plan on probably getting a 980, I will be sure to do it....if I can remember how lol

appologies if this is a noob question but I see on the reference 980s there is a bit of a price difference,

Are they the same cards from each manufacturer, are you essentially just paying for different support?

Would there say be a difference between the OCUK branded one and the Zotac or MSI one?

Warranty period. OcUK is 2yr, MSI 3yr and Zotac 5yr. :)

Got a reference OCUK 980 yesterday and I have to say it's better than even the Strix 980 I had which considering the price difference surprised me greatly.

No coil whine, Clocks even a little higher than the Strix and the temps are only slightly higher, Overall fantastic buy, If OCUK have any more reference OCUK 980's in stock in 2 months I'll be getting another for SLI :)

Nice

Were you unhappy with the 295x2 m8?

Not at all, Well just in the power usage department, Brilliant piece of tech and very powerful it's just that on average it put my electricity bill up by £1 a day compared to even running 2 way SLI 980's.

I used it on average for around 4 hours a day for maybe a few days at max, Might not seem like much but that's £28 extra a month which could be put into something else :)

According to my killawat I used just shy of 800w with the 295X2 and only a smidge over 450 with SLI 980's when I had the chance to test with a mates 980, That's a butt load in my book.

Damn, where's Matts Schwarzenegger pic when you need it!!!??? :D:D:D

I can't argue with that, hungry little *******s ;)

But considering I got mine s/hand for a fair bit less than the cost of a new 980 I def have no complaints :p From what I've read it's more than a match for a 980 SLi setup at higher resolutions too so I've saved a packet by doing that!!

Just another 100+ days for AMD's new solution, I'll just have to hook my electric upto the lamp-post outside :D

Hahahahah :D

I only play at 1080P 144Hz and have no plans of moving any time soon so honestly it was wasted on me, It's gone to a mate who is at 1440P and planning on going to an ultra wide so he'll get much better use from it than I will :)

Pfffffft, UltraWide is for pussy's!! 4k is where it's at ;) :D :p (and she's very VERY demanding!!)

Must admit I was looking at a 980 myself this last couple of days, a single-card solution that once overclocked 20%+ wouldn't be *too* far off a 295x2!! But I kinda like ATi/AMD so thought I'd stick rather than twist ;) Waiting for Crossfire profiles ain't fun :(

Enjoy the new card though dude, they seem to be really really nice! Hopefully the full-fat Maxwell's will be out by the time the SLi itch starts to kick in

Thank you, If they release a 980 Ti *although the name wouldn't make sense as it's not on a GM204* I might get it, Depends if Nvidia go the stupid greed route or the well priced route :)

Well Dom, I hope you enjoy your 980 experiences and hope to read about a comparison maybe in future :)

Let's all hope we get off this 28nm train very soon!!! :p

Mr Gibbo is there any chance the OcUK reference 980 will be on sale soon? My 970s are going back soon and I'd prefer to get the Overclockers product over the other reference models.

Thanks

I have a couple of questions regarding the OCUK GTX 980 reference card which I'd like to get 2 for SLI this week.

1. May seem OCD but what box/presentation do these come in/with when delivered?
2. The warranty states 3 years on the product description page - is it 2/3 years following the message previously in this thread?
3. If there was a problem with the cards - is OCUK where the product would be sent back to?

Thank you

Hey Sh33pst3r,

I think they come in the Manli boxes if the OcUK reference 970 is anything to go by and I believe they get sent back to OcUK for warranty.

Wish the blooming prices would keep still ? That Galax has gone up by £40 in under a month... :0

I know what you mean mate, I'm waiting for the OcUK reference cards to go back on sale and then I'll hit buy on 2 of them. I know there are cheaper alternatives else where but with the OcUK support recently I'd like for them to keep my business.

I'm also waiting for prices to drop. There's not a chance I'm paying launch prices for 2 980 g1's. I'm happy to stick with OcUK more than ever however that doesn't mean I'll pay the current prices. It's a significant jump in price going to the 980's alone without the recent price hike. I'll wait it out until things get more sensible again or something better appears.
