1440p GTX 970 sli owners in here...

i wont even try to pertend i know how gpu memory works but if the problem is software trieing to load 4gb of data and the slow 500mb is to slow causing stuttering then why not have a bios or driver that there is only 3.5gb availabe, end of stuttering and so what i have 3.5gb gpu's im sure i will get over it.
its not as these 970's are super expensive

That would make the situation worse. If it had 3.5GB ram and it hit the limit then it would have to swap data with ram which is slower than the transfer speed of the last 0.5GB.

Also that would mean that people had bought 4GB GPUs that were now 3.5GB max.

And 970s are still pretty damn expensive, more than competing 4GB GPUs.

the thing i dont get is if 3,5gb is not enough then why are there no threads with 780 sli and 7970 xfire owners complaining there games are a stuttering mess?

Mine was stuttering untill i turned the HABO option to off,and its a solid 60fps with 1 gtx 780 at 2560x1440,It does nearly use all up of my 3GB of vram :D
