Ferrari 488 GTB revealed. 458 Successor

Want one. Want one of those. Want one badly.

The engine is 3,902cc in displacement. It has 8 cylinders. If you divide 3902 by 8 you get a number that is cozily close to 488.

Same as the naming convention for Ferraris of old - the 250 (3 litre 12 cylinder), 330 (4 litre 12 cylinder), 365 (4.4 litre 12 cylinder).....the list goes on.

Good stuff thanks, just comparing to the recent, 458 - 4.5 8 cylinders, 430 - 4.3 v8, 355 3.5 v8 5v per cylinder, was trying to figure out how the 488 actually fitted in whatsoever. Thanks for the clarification.

it does look very much like a 458.

mind you, why change a winning formula.

the one thing I wish they would do, is put the side repeaters in the wing mirrors

the ferrari side repeaters are disgusting and ruin the look of every car they put them on.

Ferraris do tend to go in pairs. 308/328, 348/355 and the 360/430. Wouldn't be surprising if the 488 was related under the skin to the 458.

That rear vent scares me, just makes me want to cry to mummy. I can't say why, but it's like people who are scared by indents or have indent phobia that big black hole with a bit of skin between it is ******* with my head.

Looks pretty related in the skin as well TBH.

Not that keen myself, but then
  1. I wouldn't say no
  2. the 458 grew on me once I'd seen one in person so maybe likewise.

rear 1/4 looks horrid form the side, other than that I love it.

so when will the 458 start falling in Price? I would love to own a 458 one day :D

But its not going to happen lol

Good enough for the F40...

Good as it was, the F40 had ludicrous lag.

Understand why they're going this way, as are many performance car manufacturers, but can't help feeling it'll be a step backward. Wait for the reviews but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them say the 458 (and especially the Speciale) is a better car.

Didn't the reviews of the twin turbo California come out quite favorable? From memory they had configure the boost to actually under deliver at lower revs to keep it enjoyable to rev higher up the range. So the actual characteristics of the engine weren't as far off a N/A car as everyone had expected.

Great looking car though!
