** SAPPHIRE WITH AN 8GB CARD FOR EVERY OCCAISON!! **

depends on the game and how high settings you have.

As long as u knock the AA down a bit most are pretty good frame rates

So lets say BF4 or COD:AW in 4k.

Also can it be ran over HDMI from these cards? I have a 4k tv that has hdmi 2.0

How much heat does the Vapor-X dump inside the case... I'd love two of these in Crossfire but I am concerned it will turn my H440 case in to an oven! I know they have great coolers on them, but that heat has to go somewhere, and I'm worried there will be A LOT of it.

Bad combo that, I had the 440, it was like an oven with front panel on.

That's my concern... I never realistically thought I could get away with it, but I was wondering all the same. I see plenty of people have modded the front panels on the H440 to improve the airflow, but that would kind of make buying it in the first place pointless for me, as I love the styling. So, if I want Crossfire, it seems the 295X2 is the only option... unless I get a new case!

I've got 2 440s, 1 with a Vaporx 8gb playing 1080 and 1 with a 780ti Matrix Platinum playing 1440. Vaporx never hits 70, ti hits 80. Both play same games, both have same fan setup (including h100i). Maybe it's the resolution, but the vaporx is cooler ime.

edit - no case mods other than filters on the top and a high pressure setup rather than low

edit edit - both in the same room

I've got mine high pressure too, with Akasa Piranha's up front and a decent Phanteks 140mm as exhaust at the back. Keeps everything very cool as it is, no complaints. It does seem like x2 290X would be too much for it to handle though, unfortunately.

So would I be fine with one in my H440? Its just the standard blue/black one, no mods.

Does this vapour-x card blow heat out the back?

Mine is great so would say yes. Does not blow out the back - i have 3 120sp intake at front, 2 120sp intake top, 1 140 af exhaust at the back.

Agree - and i have thought about it. Would only feel confident with a high air flow 3 foot high dust magnet case.

Thanks, would I need to add more fans to my case to successfully use one of these without heating everything up?

From what I've been reading, air flow optimised cases like the Corsair Carbide Air 540 or Phanteks Enthoo Luxe would do the job. And these are very good cases by most accounts. But it seems like with the H440, the 295X2 is my only real option if I want Crossfire.

@ Spuddy, I think one card would be fine. It's x2 that would pose issues. The H440 does benefit from better high static pressure fans anyway. This will only help and I'd recommend it to any H440 owner regardless of GPU.

Thanks, I'll look into getting a new fan then for the back of the case. Can anyone remember size?

So if I have absolutely ZERO plans to crossfire/sli. Would people recommend this 8gb card over a 970/980 at 1440p? I'd only like a single card setup.

The rear is a 140mm, and I have the Phanteks PH-F140HP in mine. Looks good and is very silent. I have the white case, hence the all white fan.

For single card, I have been advised by numerous people in the know that 8GB is largely pointless. Even the reviews back this up actually. It's only really worth it for Crossfire, otherwise a 4GB card is ample at 1440p. If you wanted to go up to 4K, then you'd need more grunt anyway. There isn't a single card that can adequately handle 4K at present. Many people would still recommend the 980 over a 290X for single card gaming, and it's a better performer... but it is much more expensive of course.

For the 440, a 140 high air flow is best. If its of any interest, i tested running with the front cover off on both setups looping heaven and it did make exactly 5c difference to both setups which is not enough to make me want to mod it. I also tried an 80 as an exhaust at the bottom back (a real hack) and it made no difference. Would need to be watercooled to make a big enough difference in a 440 which to be fair was what it is designed for.

edit - beaten :-)
