Have i ruined my CPU

Now ive got to fix this silly issue where games will crash either by freezing or to desktop. mainly the screen will freeze when the game does something all of a sudden.

This only happens on games that push my CPU and GPU, e.g Dying Light. Games like D3 can be played till im blue in the face without incident

What sort of temperatures are you seeing?

Try installing 'MSI Afterburner' and run it before you start the game. If you go to settings you can change what shows up in the 'on screen display' (OSD) - Things like GPU and CPU temperatures.

Maybe the CPU cooler just need re-seating?

from what i can recall the GPU is no higher than the low/mid 80s which i believe is well withing what my card can handle. I'll check the CPU tonight. What should it be running at?

Any blue screens or is it just a crash/freeze? Could be an issue with the game. Anything in windows event viewer?

There has been some good advice here given already by others.

-Reset bios to defaults
-Uninstall bloatware
-Run with 1 stick of ram

My gut is telling me look to ram...sometimes my gut is so clever :D

Memtest86 is what I'd recommend to test the ram. Test each stick individually and test ram in different slots. the slot itself on the motherboard could be at fault.
