Connecting a headset with 1 X 3.5MM jack to PC

I recently purchased a HyperX Cloud 2 USB Headset. When connecting by USB the headset sounds off a constant quiet static noise which is really annoying. I think it's caused by the USB connection.

I'm trying to figure out what connections I'd need to connect this headset to 3.5MM.

The headset has 1 X 3.5MM connector that plugs in to the USB part of the headset

How can I get the headset and mic working by connecting straight to the sound jacks of my PC? Do I need a 1 X 3.5MM jack to 2 X 3.5MM. Cheers

Assuming the USB is connected to the PC, the 3.5mm jack would be connected to the headset, assuming the headset has a 3.5mm free or a removable cable.

What headset do you have?

HyperX Cloud 2 is the headset. From the actual headphones there is a 3.5MM male connector which then connectors into this , there aren't 2 separate jacks - Just the one.

Oh....then disregard the above!

I've seen your post in the other thread, seems like it could either be a USB issue or a headset issue.

Are you using USB2 or 3? Using a hub or direct into the PC?

I assume its a 4pin 3.5mm jack so you need
"3.5mm 4 Pin to 2x 3 Pin 3.5mm Headset Splitter Adapter ". Many places online to buy them under £5 I couldnt see any on ocuk.

I think it's a faulty unit - TwST has advised to return in another thread!

we are looking into a 4 pole jack converter cable.

FYI the connection works fine in my DAC but obviously the microphone is useless.

And yeah I have a pair on my head they don't make that noise. SO whilst OP's pc could be causing the problem we have no way of testing that. If they work fine here we will use them as a demo unit in the shop

If I bring the headset in to the store would I get a straight replacement mate?

Also, are you wearing the headset in a quiet environment? As the hissing isn't obnoxiously loud, it's quiet but it can certainly be heard.

yes we can if you bring it in. I'll take them home tonight and test them in complete silence to confirm.

I live in the Etruria area mate and you guys close up at 5:30PM so don't think I can make it up for then

I'm guessing your PC's USB is the issue that can't provide clean power. This is speaking from experience I had with a previous USB headset.

Is there a ferrite bead on the cable?

'constant quiet static noise' is a typical sign of unclean signal.

It is possible but I also have the exact same thing in the other PC I tried them in and the same result using the USB's on my monitor.

Their isn't a ferrite bead on the cable.

I went through the same route as you, another PC, monitor USB too and no avail. Just guessing with no ferrite bead the signal is not being filtered and all that static and interference is easy to pick up and hear. It may be some grounding issue.

Anyway it's great that Twst and OcUK will let you exchange the headset though. Hope the new unit works for you. :)

If you find you do need an adapter in the future and OcUK haven't started sourcing them, just search the rain forest for one of these...

4-pins 3.5mm jack to dual 3.5mm Mic/Headphone splitter adapter

As a side note - though not very useful for their intended purpose - quite a lot of windows tablets will take a 4 pole connection in the headphone socket and split it internally to headphone and mic which doesn't seem to be an advertised feature.
