Upcoming games to support Mantle

Well, sorry to burst your bubble, the 970 stomps on the 290 and regularly beats the 290x on numbers but that doesn't tell the whole story does it ?

I played with both Mantle and DX with an open mind. I wouldnt have bothered my arse doing it at all had I not been interested.

Am I only allowed to praise Mantle ?

Bah, Bah, bah, bah

I still don't know what to do... keep my 970 and wait for 3xx, get another one or go RED with 290 Crossfire!? I'm at 1440p, so 1080 is of no concern to me.

for 1400p why don't you get a single 290 or 290x and see how it goes, ive had my first play about today with vsr and enjoyed it tomb raider, call of duty aw and cs go 3200x1800, all the games looked pin sharp and played very smooth on a single sapphire 290 tri x

Keep hold of it unless it is giving you grief and wait it out for the 3XX series. If it is giving you grief, swap it out for a 290 and play some mantle games :)

They is a reason why directx 12 is following in Mantle footsteps and that's because it's simply the future of pc gaming..
It's not just about looking at frame rate, it's how the frame rate is delivered to the user the lower the latency the smoother the game is..
I laugh when I see someone say but dx11 got avg 80fps and mantle avg 70fps mantle sucks... Bah, bah, bah
Dx11 will never be better than Mantle, Mantle smashes it in everything from low frame rate latency to better use off the hardware/crossfire..

Having low level api like mantle or dx12 is massive it will also open the door for new technologies in gaming.

What I can't wait to see is how Mantle does when dx12 drops what happens to mantle and how is the performance between the two... If mantle dies then fine, least it's pushed the door for the better. And amd should be given thanks for doing so.

:D

Hear, hear!

I can't see Mantle still being around when Dx12 comes along, as why would the game devs do Dx12 for both AMD and Nvidia, and also Mantle for AMD, when Dx12 is supposedly Mantle, and runs on both of em, no need for Mantle is there ?

I dont really understand why AMD bothered with Mantle to be honest. Did they REALLY not know what Microsoft were working on with Dx12? They must have inorder for the 200 series to have support for it.

The ONLY reason I can think they released mantle was to get a head start for a year and push sales of their cards over Nvidia's. In other words marketing.

well i hope they carry it on, i can think of a few reasons its a good idea, for both AMD and us
atleast i think i can :)

Actually it was never meant for PC, only for the XB1, if it wasn't for Mantle we wouldn't be getting DX12

From what I recall it was someone's (at AMD) pet project they were working on in their spare time initially due to their frustrations with DX then later on became officially adopted.

I keep hearing this , so some quantifiable proof please ?

You keep hearing it because Microsoft did say DX12 would only be available on the XB1, the problem is that was just before the XB1 launch, so it's difficult to find the articles that covered the story.

It wasn't until about 4 Weeks after Mantle launch that Microsoft came out and said DX12 would appear on the PC.

big companies often only react when they have to
with steam wanting to break off now too they are the competing api not mantle so much
i really dont see the downside that others are seeing!?
