Nothing wrong with either of these cards.

Not everyone needs the fastest flagship card.

Some of us would actually like a reasonable improvement after a few years. They are basically the nu-2600XT and nu-8600GT. All about features,not about performance.

I can see them collapsing in games in the next year or so,just like the 2600XT and 8600GT.

Standard procedure though to release cards and gouge as much as you can for them within reason, and then drop the prices off once sales decline to boost sales.

You commonly have a few types of buyers for Gfx Card

Early Adopters who want the best there is and dont mind paying for it, these generally are release day buyers and pre-orderers etc

The price conscious buyers who wait for the reviews and for the AIB boards etc and normally for the first price drop.

The Bargain hunters, these types scour the 2nd hand markets for the newer cards, or buy up last gen cards at a cheaper price.

Vendors make the most profit on the 2nd type, 1st day / pre-order, early adopters dont make up the largest of their total unit sales i imagine, its the 2nd rank guys, and of course the Bargain hunters indirectly contribute as well, as their buying of 2nd hand kit allows the seller to buy newer kit etc.
